Matt Hancock accused of 'grabbing booty' as affair scandal is brought up for the first time on I'm A Celebrity

Matt Hancock’s affair scandal has been mentioned for the first time on I’m a Celebrity, with fellow contestant Babatúndé Aléshé joking about him ‘grabbing booty’. Watch their conversation here:

After Matt completed his Tentacles of Terror Bushtucker Trial, having been voted to take on the challenge by the public, he shared a poignant moment with Babatúndé, who asked him: “How have things been?”

Matt replied: “It was really tough.”

But Babatúndé wasn't letting the moment become the heart-to-heart Matt probably hoped for, bluntly pointing out: “Because you messed up... I'm joking! I'm joking!"

Matt continued: “Yeah, no, I did. I messed up and I fessed up.

"I resigned and it’s no excuse but I fell in love, right?

"That also had a lot of other consequences obviously.”

Babatúndé quipped back: “You didn’t just ‘fell in love’ you were grabbing booty bruv!”

Not looking too impressed, Matt looked away, muttering: “Oh give over.”

Babatúndé, laughing away, gave him a playful tap on the knee, before saying: “Sorry. I'm sorry."

Turning back to his campmate with a slight smile on his face, Matt said: “You are a comedian.”

He then reiterated how 'hard' it had been, admitting: "I obviously brought it on myself."

Babatúndé asked if Matt was still with 'the lady', meaning Gina Coladangelo - his former aide and now partner, following their highly-publicised affair.

"Yeah very much so, yeah, totally," Matt said.

"That’ll be the best thing about being kicked out, seeing her on the bridge.”

Babatúndé said he didn't 'judge' Matt, but added: "I may take the p**s out of you.”

Reflecting in the Bush Telegraph later, Babatúndé said he knew Matt was 'embarrassed', recalling how he said he 'fell in love'.

"But he was grabbing the booty, bruv!" he said.

"Man grabbed the bunda on the front page.

"It was the Bundesliga, bruv."

Earlier in the episode, Matt took on the Tentacles of Terror Bushtucker Trial, saying he felt he had 'pressure' to get more than six stars.

Ant explained that he would face a ‘giant octopus-shaped structure’, which was home to an ‘assortment of underwater critters’ including crocodiles, snakes, crabs and eels.

"All you have to do is find and collect 11 numbered stars, in order, 1 to 11,” Ant said.

“During the trial the tentacles of terror will lower into the water so you’ll have to swim around a bit.”

As Matt began, Ant also quipped: “You must have met a few snakes in your time in Westminster.”

Mid-way through collecting a star, Matt responded: “Haha… I see what you did there.”

Eventually, Matt managed to collect the full 11 stars, admitting it was ‘really hard’ as he struggled for breath at the end.

“The eels, the sea snakes, I was absolutely petrified,” he told Ant and Dec when back on dry land.

He added: “I can’t believe it. I was so nervous. My heart was racing. I’m really proud of myself for having pulled that off.”
