Mia Khalifa has sparked debate online as to whether Jenna Ortega will be able to star in a Marvel movie after a previous cameo.

Mia Khalifa has sparked debate online as to whether Jenna Ortega will be able to star in a Marvel movie after a previous cameo.

Jenna Ortega has recently risen to fame for her titular role in Netflix's Wednesday, which is directed by Tim Burton.

The new 'twisted' Addams Family series sees Ortega star as rebellious teenager Wednesday who is coming to terms with her psychic abilities.

After her role in Wednesday, Ortega is already pretty much halfway to being a Marvel superhero.

However, adult film star Mia Khalifa has since sparked a heated debate on Twitter over whether or not Ortega will be able to lead a Marvel movie due to having featured in one already.

Khalifa's tweet reads: "Life is unfair, and I stand by that because Jenna Ortega had a cameo in a Marvel movie years ago which means we’ll never be able to see her as a lead in a Marvel movie."

The movie Khalifa is referring to is 2013 release, Iron Man 3.

The seventh film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) sees Ortega take on the role of fictional U.S. Vice President Rodriguez's (Miguel Ferrer) daughter.

Ortega's character has a missing right leg which is a motivator for Vice President Rodriguez to resort to consorting with the enemy, Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce).

Killian possesses the Extremis drug which could help cure Rodriguez's daughter's leg.

However, Iron Man - as superheroes tend to always do - defeats the bad guy, with the fate of Ortega's character's leg subsequently left hanging in the balance.

Khalifa is valid in her views - many MCU actors having only been able to appear in the movies as one character, according to Screen Rant.

However, there are exceptions and other Twitter users have been quick to point this out.

One user wrote: "Chris Evans originally played in a Marvel movie as Johnny Storm/Human Torch in the Fantastic Four in 2005, then played in another Marvel movie as Captain America in 2011. Anything is possible."

"If she was interested and they had a good role for her I don't think they'd let this stop them," another said.

Khalifa's concerns were quickly put to bed by other Twitter users.

A third referred to circulating rumours that Ortega could be set to play White Tiger in a new Daredevil series.

A fourth exemplified: "Gamma Chan has played two different characters in Captain Marvel and The Eternals so there is still hope."

A final resolved: "Small role and she was very young. She’s fine."

LADbible has contacted Marvel for comment.
