Netflix's new show, Wednesday, has set a brand new record on Rotten Tomatoes.

The new Addams family series stars Jenna Ortega and has been described as a ‘twisted new series from the mind of Tim Burton’. You can watch the trailer below:

It follows Wednesday as she attends Nevermore Academy, balancing her studies with all manner of mysterious goings on.

The official synopsis from Netflix says: “The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.

“Wednesday's attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorised the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago - all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”

Alongside Ortega, the Addams Family cast is completed by Catherine Zeta-Jones' as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams.

Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday Addams in 1991’s The Addams Family and its 1993 sequel Addams Family Values, also makes an appearance as Marilyn Thornhill, while Gwendoline Christie stars as Principal Larissa Weems.

Jenna Ortega plays the title role in Wednesday.

Viewers have been loving the series so far, and it's even set a pretty impressive record on Rotten Tomatoes, too. Not only has it earned a 71 percent critics' score, but it's bagged 86 percent positive reviews among its audience score, too.

In fact, the scores make it the highest-rated Addams Family adaptation since the OG 1960s TV series.

For comparison, the 1991 Addams Family scored a 66 for critics' score and 67 in audience ratings, meanwhile the 1993 Addams Family Values managed a 74 percent critics' score and 63 with audiences.

People have been loving Ortega's performance particularly, with many fans honing in on her dancing scene in episode four.

The moment takes place at Nevermore Academy's Rave’n Dance, where Wednesday completely steals the show with her mesmerising and bizarre dance routine.

A clip of the scene has since been shared on TikTok, captioned: "The director said 'time to dance' and Jenna Ortega heard him loud and clear."

And others were loving it, with one commenting: "The director said take five but jenna ortega heard change lives."

While another said: "Jenna ortega is an absolute queen and i adore her."

And a third added: "This whole scene is immaculate; she looks striking and his reactions are great."

Wednesday is available to watch on Netflix now.
