Jennifer Lawrence 'only wants to do hard R-rated movies’ after ‘feeling’ she got from filming No Hard Feelings

Jennifer Lawrence talks to Cameron Diaz about only wanting to doing 'hard R-rated movies' after finding 'sweet spot' with new film

Jennifer Lawrence 'only wants to do hard R-rated movies’ after the ‘feeling’ she got from filming No Hard Feelings.

The Hunger Games actress is the star of the new film following Uber drive, Maddie, who agrees to date a rich couple’s awkward 19-year-old son in order to earn some cash.

Rated 15, the comedy premieres tomorrow, 23 June, and Lawrence isn’t worried about her one-year-old watching it when he’s older.

The 32-year-old gave birth to son Cy in February 2022, and shares him with husband, Cooke Maroney.

She tells TalkRadio: “Everything I’ve learned from other actors is that your kids will never ever want to watch your movies or hear about them.”

But we could possibly be seeing more of Lawrence in these kind of raunchy roles as she opened up about the experience to steamy-character-pro, Cameron Diaz, for Interview Magazine.

Promoting the film in a plunging, high-leg bodysuit and pulled-down joggers, she says of her filming experience: “It was a blast. I’ve always wanted to do comedy and I’ve been asked a million times.

“I was never against it, but you’ve seen the movies that come out. I don’t want to name anything specifically, but there hasn’t been anything that funny.”

Lawrence really does have quite the list of films to her name; from the horror of Mother! to the drama of Silver Linings Playbook and from the action of The Hunger Games to the mystery of House at the End of the Street.

But this is her first go at a proper raunchy comedy and Diaz says: “This is something you were born to do, hard R comedies. It might be your sweet spot.”

And although she can’t quite put her finger on what she was feeling during the making of No Hard Feelings, Lawrence says: “If that’s my sweet spot, then I don’t ever want to do anything else.”

While it’s not yet in cinemas, the actress says she felt a ‘unique sadness’ when they wrapped filming, and says she felt ‘so confident’ throughout the experience.

But despite finding this new ‘sweet spot’ in the film genre, Lawrence still calls Diaz ‘the icon of R-rated comedies’.

In the movie, Maddie takes on a job from Craigslist advert to ‘date’ their ‘un-f**kable’ son to bring him out of his shell - before he heads off to college. The dad makes it clear he wants her to date the son ‘hard’, so she promises to ‘date’ his brains out.
