As Johnny Depp continues to spar with Amber Heard in the trial everyone’s watching, they’ve both hired some experts to help their case.

Depp has brought in Dr Shannon Curry to help make his case, while Heard has tried to hit back with Dr Dawn Hughes. 

Who is Dr Shannon Curry and why is she famous?

Dr Shannon Curry is a clinical and forensic psychologist and expert in intimate partner violence. 

She is also the director of Curry Psychology Group, a counselling centre in Orange County, California.

The doctor has come to the fore in the Depp-Heard defamation trial, alleging that Heard has a borderline personality disorder and histrionic personality disorder (an overwhelming desire to be noticed).

She came to the conclusions by looking at previous assessments by Heard, and two direct examinations.

Curry also tried to debunk Amber Heard’s claim that she suffered PTSD after Depp’s alleged abuse, saying it was an easy condition to fake.

In a strange interaction in the live-streamed trial, Amber Heard’s lawyer Elaine Bredehoft suggested Curry was so excited about the case that she told her husband about it.

Curry apparently brought Heard muffins while carrying out her psychological assessments, and said they were from her husband, whose name is Ty, according to her Instagram.

But Curry said she had not told her husband about the star client, which would have broken confidentiality rules, and asked that Bredehoft ‘stop talking about muffins’.
