Kate Bush's popular 1985 track 'Running Up That Hill' is back in the UK Top 10, and any Stranger Things fans will know exactly why.

It should go without saying that the song is a banger in its own right, but combining it with the emotion and intensity of a teenage girl quite literally running for her life takes it to a whole new level.

'Running Up That Hill' first made it into the UK Top 10 following its initial release, reaching No. 3 thanks to fans buying the track.

Of course, there was no Spotify in those days, so listeners would have instead been flocking to buy the track on tape before popping it into their big cassette decks or portable Walkmans, just like Max in Stranger Things.

Fast-forward nearly 40 years, when we have streaming services galore, and the track is now officially back in the Top 10 thanks to streams and downloads.

Running Up That Hill is in the UK Top 10 for the third time.

Pressing play on the track on your phone might not come with the panic felt by Dustin, Lucas and Steve as they fumbled to get the tape out of its case, but its recent popularity proves the track remains just as epic either way.

Following the release of Stranger Things series four on 27 May, the track reached No. 8 in the UK singles chart and became the most-streamed song on Spotify in the US and the UK. At the time of writing (4 June), 'Running Up That Hill' sits at No. 4 in the Spotify Global Top Songs, falling only behind Bad Bunny's tracks 'Ojitos Lindos' and 'Me Porto Bonito', and Harry Styles' 'As It Was'.

In Spotify's Top UK Songs, it sits right behind Styles at No. 2. The song is also expected to place highly in the US charts when they are announced on Tuesday.

The entry marks 'Running Up That Hill’'s third appearance in the UK Top 10 following its first comeback in 2012, when it was used in the closing ceremony of the Olympics.

Fans haven't been shy in sharing their love for the song online, with one fan writing, "RUNNING UP THAT HILL ON REPEAT #StrangerThings4," while another tweeted: "No spoilers but that moment at the end of episode 4 with max and the usage of kate bush's running up that hill was f*cking glorious. one of the best scenes in stranger things history."

Stranger Things director Shawn Levy has thanked fans for their kind words about the episode in which the track features prominently, saying he knew it 'could be something really special' from the very beginning.
