Netflix has silently removed a big Stranger Things mistake from the newest batch of episodes after it caused a viral backlash.
Stranger Things season five has been met with a seriously mixed reaction online, with the penultimate episode of the series released on Christmas Day falling to the lowest rating on IMDb of any instalment of the show.
There has been criticism of the scene in which Will comes out, people calling for a supposed ‘secret cut of volume two’, and just all round confusion around how the beloved Netflix show is coming to an end.
One of the most bizarre things people have noticed though surrounds a scene in which Holly Wheeler is trapped by Vecna and the forces of the Upside Down.

After escaping Vecna’s mind alongside Max, Holly awakes in ‘The Abyss’, the foundation where the Demogorgons and the mind flayer are revealed to actually be from in the new episodes.
As Holly is escaping, keen-eyed viewers noticed a mistake so obvious that once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
The actor is seen wearing an Under Armour shirt underneath her clothes when her sleeve rides up.
As the young girl is trying to break through the weird fleshy prison she finds herself in when she wakes up, the brand’s distinct logo is shown for the world to see.
Under Armour was founded in 1996, nine whole years after Stranger Things 5 is set.

Fans on social media compared the gaff to the moment in which Game of Thrones season eight in which a Starbucks cup was left in frame, though others wondered whether this could be a sneaky hint that the world of The Abyss is playing with reality in some way.
The answer, of course, is that it was a mistake, as Netflix has gone back in and edited it out from the episode.
The logo has been fully scrubbed from 'The Bridge', the seventh episode of season five where the mistake took place.
First noticed by a fan on X, they posted: “I just went back and rewatch and it’s been edited out.”

While this may seem like a minor error, fans have pointed to it being emblematic of the overall issues they have with season five.
One replied, saying: “For a show backed by $500 million budget and thousands of professionals, it’s rly hard to understand how something this basic was overlooked and needed a random person to flag it.”
Another replied, saying: “I watched it this morning and It was still up. That's funny considering how many teams this had to go thru to reach the screen.”
With the finale just around the corner and many fans turning against the show, Netflix will be hoping for a far more positive reaction to their final episode.
Stranger Things season five will release its finale on New Year's Eve at 8pm ET (1am on 1 January in the UK).
