Ke Huy Quan reveals the moment he reunited with Harrison Ford for Indiana Jones 5

Ke Huy Quan reveals the moment he reunited with Harrison Ford for Indiana Jones 5

It was the first time they'd seen each other in nearly 40 years.

Ke Huy Quan has opened up about how incredible it was to be in the same room as Harrison Ford again.

The two actors reunited after nearly 40 years for Indiana Jones 5, where they will star as Short Round and the whip cracking archeologist, respectively.

Quan has told the New York Times about the moment they got to see each other again.

They were both at the D23 expo event, which is billed as the 'ultimate Disney fan event', where people can hear about all the exciting things the Mickey Mouse corporation is cooking up in 2023.

Ke Huy explained to NYT reporter Kyle Buchanan: "We were at the D23 event and I was told Harrison was gonna be there.

"We're in this green room with so many actors, producers, and directors, and the person who was assigned to assist me said, 'Harrison Ford is right outside the green room. Would you want to go say hi?'"

When someone asks if you want to see Mr Ford you don't turn down that opportunity.

Quan was eager to see his Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom co-star and their interaction sounds so wholesome.

As he approached Ford, who was in the middle of speaking to Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, he questioned whether the 80-year-old cinematic legend would even remember him.

Keep in mind, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom came out in 1984, so memories could be a little hazy.

"As I get closer, he turns and points his finger at me, and he has that classic, famous, grumpy Harrison Ford look," Quan explained to the NYT.

"I go, 'Oh my gosh, he probably thinks I'm a fan and he's gonna tell me to not come near him'.

"But he looks and points at me and says, 'Are you Short Round?'

"Immediately, I was transported back to 1984, when I was a little kid, and I said, 'Yes, Indy.' And he said, 'Come here,' and gave me a big hug."

I'm not crying, you're crying.

A picture went viral during D23 of Ford and Quan hugging it out and now we finally have the backstory.

Entertainment Weekly says Quan took a 35-year break from acting and followed his passions of choreography and directing.

When he saw how big Crazy Rich Asians was for Hollywood, he decided to make his big comeback and ended up in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

But all eyes will be on Indiana Jones 5 when it drops on 30 June 2023.
