Keanu Reeves and his band perform for first time in 20 years

He may have dreamt about being a Rock God in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, but it turns out Keanu Reeves is a real-life rockstar.

The 58-year-old is part of a grunge band called Dogstar and the group performed their first gig in over two decades at the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival.

Instead of battling the bad guys, the A-list actor was hitting the high notes as he played bass on the Verizon stage on Saturday (May 27).

During the gig, Reeves was joined on stage by his bandmates, vocalist Bret Domrose and drummer Robert Mailhouse.

Originally forming in 1991, the Speed actor joined the group after a chance encounter with their drummer in a supermarket.

A huge hockey fan, he’d initially begun chatting to Mailhouse after spotting his Detroit Red Wings hockey jersey.

Although the band’s line-up has changed over the years, the group rocked out together for eleven years and released two EPs before splitting in 2002.

Reuniting for the BottleRock, his band played alongside megastars like Lizzo, Duran Duran and Carly Rae Jepsen – all of whom headlined at the Californian festival.

However, the gig wasn’t the only big news for the three-piece group.

In fact, The Matrix actor and his band announced they have recorded a new single with a video to be released soon as well.

“So much to do, but rest assured, we are on it,” they told fans, “Can’t wait to share our new music with everyone. It’s the most satisfying and meaningful batch of songs we’ve ever done."

The group added: “Thanks again for being so patient with us. We truly have the best, most loyal fans,' the announcement concluded.”

This won’t be the only thing keeping the John Wick actor busy, as he must juggle his day job alongside his band’s comeback.

In addition to Dogstar’s new video, Reeves will also be filming a new comedy project alongside Jonah Hill.

Called Outcome, the Apple TV+ film will focus on a Hollywood actor, Reef, who is struggling to come to terms with his past after a bizarre video resurfaces.

While not much is known about the upcoming movie, it's expected to come out in early November on the streaming platform.

The veteran action hero will also be preparing to reprise his role as John Constantine, with a highly anticipated sequel finally in the works.

Dogstar? Sounds like Reeves is more of a superstar!
