Speaking to the BBC, she said: "Lance will be greatly missed. Please respect his family's privacy at this time."

As the tributes continue to pour in, Reeves and Stahelski shared a joint statement with Variety as they mourn the loss of their co-worker and friend.

"He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family and friends."

The pair said they will dedicate John Wick: Chapter 4 - in which Reddick returns as the Continental's concierge Charon - to the star.

"We dedicate the film to his loving memory," they said. "We will miss him dearly."

Fellow John Wick star Ian McShane added: "Total shock and disbelief. Lance was a wonderful human being and a wonderful colleague.

"My deepest condolences, peace and love to his wife, Stephanie, and all his family."

The Wire's Wendell Pierce added: "A man of great strength and grace. As talented a musician as he was an actor. The epitome of class.
