Killers of the Flower Moon: Plot, Release Date And Cast

All you need to know about Scorsese's latest movie

Killers of the Flower Moon is the 26th film to be directed by Martin Scorsese, one of the greatest filmmakers of all time.

Scorsese’s productions have kept audiences on edge throughout his fifty five year career in Hollywood, with films such as The Departed, Shutter Island and Raging Bull consistently thrilling and intriguing the public. The Wolf of Wall Street and Goodfellas display his remarkable ability to seamlessly combine shocking scenes of violence and machismo with periods of comic relief.

Plot

Killers of the Flower Moon is based on David Grann’s best-selling 2017 non-fiction book Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI.

Set in 1920s Oklahoma, the film includes stories of murder, the discovery of oil and an FBI investigation. With these captivating themes, a star studded cast, a great director and the small matter of a $200 million budget, it is nicely set up to become a classic.

Release Date

Filming began in April 2021 and wrapped on 1st October 2021. The film is expected to be released in November 2022, in both the UK and US, and will be immediately available on Apple TV+, which costs $4.99 per month (£4).

Cast

The cast of Killers of the Flower Moon features two of the greatest living actors. Leonardo DiCaprio, known from his work in The Titanic, The Wolf of Wall Street and The Revenant stars, marking his seventh collaboration with Scorsese, a man who DiCaprio thanked in his 2016 Oscars acceptance speech for ‘teaching me so much about the cinematic art form’.

Robert De Niro, who starred in Goodfellas, Heat and Taxi Driver to name a few, also features, this is the tenth film that Scorsese and De Niro have worked together on.

Jesse Plemons has a central role. He is considered by many to be a rising star in Hollywood due to his performances in Breaking Bad, Vice and, more recently, The Power of the Dog, for which he earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the 94th Academy awards.

The film also features veteran actor John Lithgow (Footloose, The Pelican Brief).
