Lana Del Rey gets hair done on stage at Hyde Park to poke fun at being late for Glastonbury

The 'Summertime Sadness' singer appeared to get the finishing touches to her hair done during the performance.

Lana Del Rey surprised fans at her British Summer Time (BST) festival performance in London over the weekend by getting her hair done on stage.

The ‘Summertime Sadness’ singer, 38, performed some of her most beloved songs on stage the festival held in London’s Hyde Park on Sunday (9 July).

Wearing a floral dress with a white belt, the star sang a shortened version of the single ‘A&W’ from her new album Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.

This was followed by a live rendition of her The Great Gatsby soundtrack single ‘Young and Beautiful’ from 2013.

She apologised for arriving at her London gig 17 minutes late a mere few weeks after her microphone was cut off during her Glastonbury performance last month because of her late arrival.

After a rather late arrival on 24 June at the world-famous festival, Glasto festival bosses cut her mic when her set overran - which meant she had to sing her breakout hit ‘Video Games’ acapella-style.

Lana Del Rey's Glastonbury set was abruptly cut short due to her arriving on stage late.

“My hair takes so long to do,” Del Rey told the crowd at Glastonbury, confirming the reason for her lateness.

“If they cut power, they cut power.”

She told the crowd of thousands she was 'super f**king sorry' for all of the difficulties and stepped off the stage to get closer to the fans, but she was eventually escorted away by security much to the dismay of her fans who called out to her.

And now, a few weeks on from the incident, the Lust for Life chanteuse appeared to refer to her Glastonbury faux pas during her BST performance.

At 10:05 p.m., around five minutes before her set was due to come to a close and shortly after a rendition of ‘Candy Necklace’, a song from her most recent album, Del Rey shared: “I think this is where I got cut off last time. Sorry about that.”

And the Grammy-nominated songstress even appeared to give a nod to the reason behind her lateness at Glastonbury as her BST performance also saw her get her hair done on stage while singing.

The singer had her stylist come out on stage and do her hair while singing - an apparent nod to the reason behind her Glastonbury drama.

The moment was filmed and shared on TikTok by fan Lunar June, who captioned the video: “Not Lana Del Rey having a whole segment in her BST show where a stylist is doing her hair, after getting slated 2 weeks ago by the press for being late to her Glastonbury set bc she had to do her hair. An Icon.”

The singer thanked the crowd and her musicians: “Thank you so much London. My friends from Scotland… Thank you so much.

“This was a second home for a very long time. You guys basically made us what we were and allowed us to tour for the last 13 years.”

Del Rey wrapped up her show a minute before Hyde Park’s 10:30 p.m. curfew after arriving around 17 minutes late for the gig.

Still, it seems Del Rey’s fans had a splendid time and she’ll hopefully be back in the UK soon... and relatively on time.
