Paramount Pictures has dropped some big news at CinemaCon in Las Vegas by revealing A Quiet Place is getting a prequel.

The movie studio unveiled the title of the next story in the horror franchise will be called A Quiet Place: Day One.

Audiences will be taken back to where it all began, detailing what else went down when Earth was invaded by blind aliens with an incredible sensitivity for even the slightest of sounds.

There will be one other major change for the third instalment: John Krasinski won't be directing the latest instalment.

It has been revealed that A Quiet Place: Day One will actually be a spin-off, directed by Michael Sarnoski.

Sarnoski most recently directed Pig, starring the infallible Nicolas Cage, which earned itself a whopping 96 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Although Krasinski won't be at the helm of the film, there is a chance he could still appear on-screen reprising his role of dad extraordinaire, Lee Abbott.

In Quiet Place — Part II, we saw Lee and Evelyn Abbott's (Emily Blunt) reaction when the creatures first came down from above.

Of course, they fought for survival alongside their kids Regan (Millicent Simmonds) and Marcus (Noah Jupe).

But rumours have already been swirling that the prequel might not feature any of the original cast.

"The hope is this film would help set up a potential Quiet Place universe that the studio can build on for years to come," Deadline reported.

"It is also known that, while not out of the question, Emily Blunt and Krasinski likely would not reprise their roles in this instalment.”

This revelation will surely send fans into a tizzy, speculating what the new film could contain if it doesn't follow the already-established characters of the Abbott family.

According to SlashFilm, some believe the all-new story might take audiences to an entirely new location in the Quiet Place universe, complete with fresh characters and an entirely different perspective.

But it isn't a total foray into the unknown.

There is also a continuation of the original A Quiet Place story on the cards coming for fans with the usual cast.

Krasinski is expected to take the reins for the fourth film (yet third installation of the franchise), A Quiet Place — Part III.

A Quiet Place — Part III is expected for release in 2025.

As for A Quiet Place: Day One, there has been no announced release date.

So, all there is left to do now is for fans to kick the rumour mill into overdrive and let the theorising commence.
