Actor Armie Hammer has finally responded to bizarre reports doing the rounds on social media over his alleged Instagram direct messages.

The graphic and confronting DMs have been posted by women who are trying to claim the Call Me By Your Name star sent them.

The messages, which haven't been proven to have come from the actor, alludes to Hammer discussing fantasies about cannibalism and BDSM.

Hammer hasn't yet admitted responsibility for those Instagram DMs, however several women have claimed they were in relationships with star and allege similar things were said and done to them.

The actor has instead since shot down the claims and called them 'bullsh*t'.

He has also explained why he has decided to pull out of Shotgun Wedding, a film he was due to star in alongside Jennifer Lopez.

In a statement provided to Variety, Hammer said: "I'm not responding to these bullshit claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for four months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic.

"Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I'm grateful to them for that."

A representative for the production added of the star's exit from the movie: "Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision."

In one of the messages allegedly penned by the actor, he said he wanted to 'drink' the blood of the recipient.

"I need to drink your blood. Why the distance?" Hammer allegedly wrote in one shared DM.

Another saw the star allegedly write: "I've cut the heart out of a living animal before and eaten it while still warm."

"You just live to obey me and be my slave," another message allegedly sent from Hammer's account reads. "I will own you. That's my soul. My brain. My spirit. My body.

"Would you come and be my property till you die? If I wanted to cut off one of your toes and keep it with me in my pocket so I always had a piece of you in my possession?"

Other messages show Hammer allegedly claiming he's '100 per cent a cannibal...I want to eat you. That's so scary to admit. I've never admitted that before'.

Hammer has previously discussed his sex life in a 2013 interview with Playboy magazine, telling the publication: "Well, if you're married to a feminist as I am, then it's ... I don't know how much we can put here without my parents being embarrassed, but I used to like to be a dominant lover.

"I liked the grabbing of the neck and the hair and all that. But then you get married and your sexual appetites change. And I mean that for the better - it's not like I'm suffering in any way.

"But you can't really pull your wife's hair. It gets to a point where you say, 'I respect you too much to do these things that I kind of want to do.'"

Following the article, Hammer regretted getting so candid in the interview, telling E! News: "Let's just say hindsight is 20/20. Don't drink during an interview."
