The Final Episode Of Stranger Things Season 4 Is More Than Two Hours Long

The Final Episode Of Stranger Things Season 4 Is More Than Two Hours Long

Creators Ross and Matt Duffer have now revealed two episodes will be movie length.

This is your official warning to get excited for season four of Stranger Things.

The next instalment is set to drop in a matter of days - Friday, May 27 if you still need to mark your calendar - and the show's creators, Matt and Ross Duffer have dropped some very tantalising new information.

Speaking to The Wrap, Stranger Things creators the Duffer Brothers revealed that two episodes in the upcoming season will actually be feature-length.

That's right, folks. Two episodes will be as long as actual movies.

While it was already known that the next season would feature longer episodes and more of them, the Duffer Brothers had not previously revealed just how long a few of them would run for.

"[Episodes] seven and nine in particular are movies," Matt Duffer told The Wrap.

"And nine is a long movie," he added.

The Duffer brothers did not confirm exactly how long the episodes would run for but Ross Duffer did admit 'that it is over two hours'.

Netflix.

He added: "It’s a big one."

The genius TV creators went on to explain why Stranger Things 4 would be the biggest season yet.

"A lot of it had to do with the fact that we had characters spread out in three locations and we had a lot more plot," Matt Duffer said.

"It must be quadruple the plot we had in season three. That was our fun blockbuster season. This season we knew that season five was going to be our last, we had to start revealing a lot."

That part does make sense. At the end of season three we saw Joyce, Will, Eleven and Jonathan pack up and leave Hawkins and the rest of the gang behind.

Right at the very end, it was revealed that Hopper has somehow ended up in a Russian jail.

"The more we were writing, the more we realised we need more time in order for these reveals to land, in order for these storylines to work," Matt Duffer told The Wrap.

Netflix.

"Partway through we knew we needed to ask Netflix for nine episodes instead of eight and as we started shooting we realised, 'oh, these are mega-long episodes'."

Well, fellas, you will have precisely zero complaints from us.

Oh, and everyone else: with the next season only a week away there is plenty of time to binge seasons one, two, and three if you need a refresher.

The first volume of Stranger Things 4 premieres on May 27. Volume two will drop on July 1.
