Netflix have hidden an easter egg in the teaser for the newest season of Stranger Things, and it reveals major plot details for the final season.

The streamer released a huge slate of announcements today following yesterday’s ‘Next on Netflix’ event.

This previewed the streamer’s massive 2025 which will include Wednesday season two, Squid Game’s final season, and of course, the final season of Stranger Things.

Hidden in the teaser was a phone number which anyone can call - 765-303-2020.

If you call it up, the following message plays, which you can hear below: "Thank you for contacting the Hawkins Police Department. Due to the recent 7.4 magnitude earthquake, Hawkins is currently under lockdown to ensure the safety of our residents.

"The Hawkins emergency taskforce is working closely with the Hawkins PD on tracking missing persons of which Jane Hopper is a priority.

"We urge you as a responsible citizen of Hawkins to assist us in our search to locate her."

The lockdown that follows season four’s earthquake, and Jane Hopper (aka Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven) being missing are both hints as to the plot of the show’s final season.

Shortly after fans of the show discovered the phone number hidden in the teaser along with missing posters for Eleven, Netflix posted the full missing poster for ‘Jane Hopper’.

The Stranger Things Netflix account posted the below picture with the following caption: "Who’s *really* looking for Jane Hopper? You’re not ready for what’s to come in Stranger Things 5."

It is unclear if there is region locks on incoming calls or Netflix simply didn’t anticipate the volume of calls, but several have reported that calling the number doesn’t get the same message received by some fans posting online.

This hasn’t dampened fans excitement ahead of the fifth and final season of the show, however.

One fan replied saying: "Love to see it! That last season was stellar," as another noted the specific number, replying to say: “I will say it is really cool that they got a indiana number.”

The Duffer Brothers, who created Stranger Things, have hinted that season five of the show will be the biggest yet, suggesting that each episode of the eight-instalment season would be like its own movie.

Ross Duffer said at the Next on Netflix event: "We spent a full year filming this season. By the end, we’d captured over 650 hours of footage. So, needless to say, this is our biggest and most ambitious season yet.

"It’s like eight blockbuster movies. It’s pretty insane."

Matt Duffer added: "At the same time, we think it’s our most personal story. It was super intense and emotional to film — for us and for our actors.

"We’ve been making this show together for almost 10 years. There was a lot of crying. There was so much crying.

"The show means so much to all of us, and everyone put their hearts and souls into it. We hope — and believe — that passion will translate to the screen."

Stranger Things season five will come out later in 2025.
