First Look At New Horror Film Called Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey

Prepare to have your childhood absolutely destroyed by this spine-tingling take on the classic cartoon bear.

Everyone's favourite bear, Winnie the Pooh, has left the 100 Acre Wood for a foray into the horror genre.

Yes, you read that correctly. The bear is back with a vengeance in an upcoming movie called Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.

The horror film is the latest independent flick from director Rhys Frake-Waterfield and is not to be confused with Disney's jolly, honey-guzzling version of the yellow bear.

This version of Winnie the Pooh looks far more morbid than the bear you remember as it appears to be a bloody slasher film, throwing back to the gory glory days of the '90s.

From the looks of the film stills, this Pooh isn't an actual bear or an animal but a man in a mask.

We see someone - who we assume is Winnie - with a sledgehammer and behind the wheel of a car.

There's also a snapshot of Winnie and a character that looks an awful lot like Piglet sneaking up behind a woman chilling in a hot tub.

There's even 'get out' smeared in what looks like blood on the windows of the presumably isolated house that all the main characters are residing in.

Not a whole lot is known about the film as producers are yet to release a trailer but we'll bet this Winnie is after much more than just honey. Well, as the title suggests anyway, he's after blood.

It looks like it ticks all the boxes of teen slasher films from yesteryear.

More fresh takes on Winnie could be on the way with the famous bear officially entering the public domain on January 1, 2022.

That's right, Blood and Honey didn't need Disney's approval as they no longer have the exclusive rights to AA Milne's works.

The bear first appeared in 1926 and its 95 years of copyright has just expired.

As a result, the popular children's character is now free to explore new frontiers.

So, there you go; a film we probably didn't need but will watch anyway with a morbid curiosity.

Just be prepared to have your childhood memories of AA Milne's classic character absolutely decimated. Or maybe you're a tough-as-nails horror aficionado who will come out unscathed? We aren't here to judge.

Either way, be prepared for the dial to be turned up to 'spine-chilling' when this bad boy finally drops.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey has yet to set a release date.
