How I Met Your Mother Reboot Series In The Works With Hilary Duff

When we watched all 208 episodes of How I Met Your Mother, we felt pretty up to speed about how Ted found the love of his life.

But we never got to hear from her side about all the things she did in her life that led up to meeting the protagonist.

Well, that's set to be explored in a new HIMYM sequel slash spinoff slash reboot series and Hilary Duff will be the lead.

It will be titled How I Met Your Father and will look at the story of Sophie, played by Duff, who tells her son the story of how she met his father.

The original series premiered in 2005 and starred the likes of Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan and Cristin Milioti. Back then, there was no Tinder, Facebook or Uber and singletons had find and maintain relationships without the boatload of technology we appreciate today.

How I Met Your Father will be set in modern times and will show Sophie and her friends navigating the world of dating apps and relationships, Variety reports.

Duff said: "I've been incredibly lucky in my career to play some wonderful characters and I'm looking forward to taking on the role of Sophie.

"As a huge fan of How I Met Your Mother, I'm honoured and even a little nervous that Carter and Craig would trust me with the sequel of their baby. Isaac and Elizabeth are brilliant, and I can't wait to work alongside them and all of their genius.

"Just fangirling over here getting to join the Hulu Originals and 20th families. I realize these are big shoes to fill and I'm excited to slip my 6 ½'s in there!"

It's still not clear how or if it will link to the original show, but we do know it will be shown on Hulu.

"Isaac and Elizabeth have an inspired take on this new version that honors what Carter and Craig created with the original and moves the franchise forward.
