Ja Rule's Career

Atkins started his rap career in 1993 with his hip hop group Cash Money Click. The name Ja Rule supposedly originated from his friend who used to call him that; his other friends would just call him "Ja" which is lazy if you ask me. He released his solo album 'Venni Vetti Vecci' potentially after his favourite Starbucks cup sizes and hit the top 20 of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart repeatedly. He signed to Murder Inc. Records during the 2000's where he earned four Grammy nominations and six top-ten albums. He also acted in the Fast and Furious series.

What's his net worth?

According to Wealthy Gorilla, Ja Rule's net worth is close to $8 million (£6.42m)

Latest controversies

Ja Rule has a long-standing beef with fellow rapper 50 Cent. Last year, Fiddy bought out an entire section at his fellow rapper's concert in the hope of making it look empty. He even Photoshopped a picture of himself sat around empty seats.

The squabble between the rappers is said to have gone back to the 90s when Ja Rule was robbed at gun point at a store in Queens, New York, where they're both are from. According to Rolling Stone, the Power actor says that Ja Rule falsely accused him of stealing his jewellery before bringing it to the attention of Irv Gotti, the founder of Murder Inc. Records. But Ja Rule says the tension started during a video shoot in Queens. Make your minds up, chaps.

More famously, Ja Rule was caught at the centre of the most luxurious festival that was never meant to be, 'Fyre Festival'. He was asked if he had watched the documentaries about his ill-fated event and said: "They're popular, maybe one day. I lived it man, I ain't got to watch it. It's not funny to me man, it's heartbreaking to me. It was something that I really, really wanted to be special and amazing and it just didn't turn out that way. "But you know, in the midst of chaos there's opportunity and so, I'm working on a lot of new things." Featured Image Credit: PA
