Katy Perry has had a rather awkward entrance on American Idol after coming on stage dressed as a mermaid.
Always the one to bring a bit of quirkiness and pop expression to the reality TV singing competition, it seems like the 'I Kissed A Girl' singer's outfit was a little too rigid.

The artist was literally wheeled out on a trolley and escorted to her seat.
It appears that moments later she was on the floor and needed help getting back up because of her outlandish costume.
People went absolutely wild for the moment on social media.
One person said: "Katy Perry just fell over in a chair because she’s dressed as the Little Mermaid."

Another added: "OMG poor girl fell over on the chair! I'm dying of laughter but praying you are okay! Mermaids belong in water not in chairs I guess! HAHAHAHAHA."

Katy's Little Mermaid costume for the latest episode of American Idol is one of a series of outfits she's worn each year for the show's Disney night.
Since signing on to be a judge on the iconic show in 2018, Perry has used the dedicated night to get into character.

She's previously come dressed as Cinderella, Snow White, Ursula, Mrs Dumbo and Tinker Bell.
Perry will probably be thinking she should have picked another Disney character that at least allows her to use her feet properly.
