Oscars Audience Left Shocked By Amy Schumer's Joke About Leonardo DiCaprio

The comedian praised him for his climate change activism but threw in a curve ball at the end.

Amy Schumer used her opening monologue at this year's 94th Academy Awards to rip into Leonardo DiCaprio.

The comedian was calling out some of the big name actors, directors, and films that have dazzled Hollywood and the world over the past 12 months.

Schumer took the time to even sledge Leo DiCaprio while praising him for his activism.

"Leonardo DiCaprio, what can I say about him? He has done so much to fight climate change and leave behind a cleaner, greener planet for his girlfriends," she said.

Cameras inside the auditorium panned to some of the guests who burst out laughing at the joke, including Jessica Chastain who seemed particularly tickled by the punchline.

People are home were also floored by it.

The joke came after a rather bizarre appearance from none other than DJ Khaled.

As hosts Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer and Regina Hall introduced Oscars, the DJ burst onto the stage to 'introduce this the right way'.

Safe to say fans were shocked with the appearance, with one writing: "Dj Khaled jumpscare."

Another said, "Everyone looked annoyed when dj khaled came out."

A third joked: "Five seconds in and DJ Khaled has already ruined everything."

It's not the first time Leonardo DiCaprio has faced a savage joke or two at an awards ceremony.

When Ricky Gervais was hosting the Golden Globes, he made an effort to slag off the Oscar-winner's relationship history.

"Leo DiCaprio attended the premiere of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and by the end, his date was too old for him," Gervais said.

"Even Prince Andrew is like, "Come on, mate'." Absolutely savage.
