The legend that is Sir David Attenborough is set to drop a storming new docuseries about dinosaurs called Prehistoric Planet.

I can’t imagine anything better than the velvety tones of the nature presenter teaching us about prehistoric beings.

But apparently, it does get better, with the equally legendary Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer providing the score for the series.

The most iconic voice in the documentary game is presenting over the top of the most awe-inspiring orchestral work in film and TV - it really doesn’t get any better.

The trailer is also enough to give you goosebumps as it is - the series ought to be phenomenal.

Prehistoric Planet will be coming to Apple TV+ and will look to uncover little-known facts about dinosaurs and their existence.

The official description from Apple TV+ reads: “Prehistoric Planet combines award-winning wildlife filmmaking, the latest palaeontology learnings, and state-of-the-art technology to unveil the spectacular habitats and inhabitants of ancient Earth for a one-of-a-kind immersive experience.

“The series presents little-known and surprising facts of dinosaur life set against the backdrop of the environments of Cretaceous times, including coasts, deserts, freshwater, ice worlds, and forests.

“From revealing eye-opening parenting techniques of Tyrannosaurus rex to exploring the mysterious depths of the oceans and the deadly dangers in the sky, Prehistoric Planet brings Earth’s history to life like never before.”

Sign me right up.

Sir David Attenborough has a personal motivation behind the series as well.

Prehistoric Planet is the 96-year-old’s means of honouring his late brother Richard Attenborough who starred as John Hammond in Jurassic Park.

The docuseries will be a five-episode affair that will each cover a different environmental aspect of the dinosaurs' existence.

The episodes are titled ‘Coasts’, ‘Deserts’, ‘Freshwater’, ‘Ice Worlds’ and ‘Forests’, taking us to all corners of the prehistoric globe.

As Attenborough explains in the trailer: “Explore the coastlines where giants roam, the deserts where danger rules, the ice worlds where survival is everything. Join us for a story you’ve never heard, on a scale you’ve never witnessed.”

The series has been produced by BBC Studios Natural History Unit with Jon Favreau and Mike Gunton serving as executive producers.

Jon Favreau is known for playing Happy Hogan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while Mike Gunton has worked extensively with Sir David Attenborough in the past on series such as Life.

Prehistoric Planet will be available to stream on AppleTV+ from May 23 to May 27.
