The singer didn't hold back when expressing his hatred

We all hate the gym, right? Lewis Capaldi certainly f*cking does:

Even people who like the gym, or at least claim to, must secretly hate it just a little bit. Does anyone really want to exert themselves, pushing yourself until you're hot and sweaty and breathless, when you could be spending your time watching TV?

I'm not saying the gym is a bad thing - in fact, it's great for staying healthy and I myself strive to go a few times a week. But that doesn't mean that I'm enjoying myself while I'm running on the treadmill or struggling my way through some lunges, no matter how much better and more accomplished I might feel afterwards.

I know for a fact I'm not alone in this, because Capaldi spent a good couple of minutes on Instagram ranting about this exact topic.

It came after the singer had finished a gym session, and he wasted no time in getting to the point as he began: "I'm just back from going to the gym and I just wanted to come on here and say I f*cking hate it."

Speaking from the much more enjoyable location of his bed, the singer proceeded to list all the things he hates about the gym, with an extra 'f*cking' thrown in there with just about every one of them to really get his hatred across.

"I hate the lights, I hate the fact there's always mirrors there so I can see myself f*cking sweating, struggling to get through it," he said.

"I hate the internal battle you have to have with yourself to keep f*cking doing it, I hate lifting weights up, I hate putting them back down, I hate when you do the ones where it's not actually that heavy, but it burns your arms, I hate that f*cking burn."

The singer came for my own heart as he described his pure hatred for burpees, before throwing in squats, split squats, chest press, pull ups, bench presses and bicep curls into the mix for good measure.

Above all, though, Capaldi hates the one thing that so often forces us to keep exercising even when we don't want to.

"Do you know what I hate most of all? I hate the fact that it makes me feel better... because then I'm like oh f*ck, I need to keep doing this for my f*cking stupid mental and physical wellbeing. I hate that," he said.

You and me both, Capaldi. But still, off to the gym we go.
