Lewis Capaldi is terrified after Harry Styles screenshotted his drunken DM

There are millions of Harry Styles fans out there who would kill to have the singer acknowledge them by way of a screenshot, but that exact exchange has left Lewis Capaldi absolutely terrified.

We're all guilty of having sent texts and messages that we come to regret. Sometimes it's an immediate realisation that it was a terrible idea, and sometimes it's one that creeps up on you as the minutes turn to hours with no response.

Among the most haunting of messages, though, are drunk texts. Those that your inebriated self is convinced are a brilliant idea, but that your sober self recognise as absolutely disastrous.

Sometimes it's best to just try and forget they ever happened, which can be easier said than done when the recipient of the message clearly saves the evidence. It's probably even more difficult to ignore when the recipient is the actual Harry Styles.

Capaldi opened up about his exchange with Styles during an appearance on the Zach Sang Show, where he explained that he has no direct contact details for the singer, but did manage to get in touch via DM.

"I DM'd him a video at four in the morning," Capaldi told the hosts, explaining he has no idea why he chose to do this, or what the video contained. As he'd sent the video through Instagram, it disappeared after Styles opened it.

"I've no idea what it was, but I know he screenshotted it," Capaldi said.

Given how candid and coarse the singer can be when (apparently) sober, we can only imagine what he's like when he's drunk. The contents of the video was evidently funny or shocking enough to warrant a screenshot, and Styles responded to the video to tell Capaldi that his message felt 'a bit like a 'u up?' text'.

Capaldi admitted he was 'so nervous' about what he might have said that he responded to Styles to say he could 'only apologise', but the singer's lack of response means that Capaldi is no closer to finding out the truth of what the message contained.

One thing Capaldi does know, though, is that 'Harry Styles is a f**kin' screenshotter'.

"Newsflash, world!," he said of the revelation, before stressing that he's never met Styles. He admitted that it was his own fault for choosing to DM Styles in the early hours of the morning while intoxicated, but that doesn't stop it from being a 'real worry'.

With that in mind, there's only one thing we need now. Styles, release the screenshot.

LADbible has reached out to representatives for Styles for comment.
