Margot Robbie reveals she had a couple of tequila shots before Wolf of Wall Street scene

The actress starred in the movie when she was just 22.

Margot Robbie has revealed she had a couple of tequila shots before filming one particular scene in The Wolf of Wall Street.

Robbie, now 32, was just 22 when she took on the role of Naomi Lapaglia - Jordan Belfort's wife.

But there was one scene in the movie where Robbie explains she needed a bit of Dutch courage - the sex scene with Leonardo DiCaprio.

In the scene, Margot's character seduces her husband in their daughter's bedroom, and while Margot didn't appear nervous on screen, she explained that in reality, she was 'very, very nervous'.

"I’m not going to lie; I had a couple of shots of tequila before that scene because I was nervous — very, very nervous," she said at a Bafta: A Life In Pictures event on Tuesday (22 November).

“Honestly, I know it sounds silly now, knowing how big the movie became, at the time I thought, ‘no one is going to notice me in this film'.

“‘It kind of doesn’t matter what I do in this film because everyone is going to be focused on Leo [DiCaprio] and everything’.

“And I was just kind of like, ‘I’ll slip under the radar’.”

The 2013 Martin Scorsese film was Margot's first movie in America and catapulted her to success. In 2016, she spoke about some of the sex scenes in the film, explaining that it was the first time she'd done a 'start to finish' sex scene and admitting she found them 'awkward'.

"I’d done scenes where it’s leading into sex or sex has just finished. But I hadn’t done a start-to-finish sex scene like I did in Wolf Of Wall Street. That was my first. Tons of people are watching you," she told Vanity Fair.

"It’s so awkward. It’s just like, this is what you need to do – get on with it. The sooner you do it, the sooner you can stop doing it."

The film was released almost 10 years ago and is based on the story of controversial stockbroker Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

Belfort - who provided the inspiration for the character - spent 22 months in jail for securities fraud related to his brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont. He was also ordered to pay out $110m to his former clients.

Meanwhile, his wife Nadine was portrayed by Robbie under the name Naomi Lapaglia, aka The Duchess of Bay Ridge.
