Matt Hancock's laugh is deeply troubling people as he promises I'm A Celeb viewers will see the 'real him'

The disgraced politician has already made quite the impression with his 'haunting' interview

It's the moment the country has been waiting for: Matt Hancock is set to land in the jungle tonight. Listen to what he has to say about it all in this bizarre interview:

The disgraced politician, who presided over the country's health strategy during the coronavirus pandemic, which saw over 200,000 people die, shocked the nation when it was revealed that he had agreed a huge payday to star in this year's series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

Since the announcement, Hancock has come in for a bit of criticism, with many poking fun at his peculiar mannerisms and general behaviour.

Well, he's done himself no favours with his latest post to TikTok, which includes a snippet from his intro during tonight's show that has left many creeped out by his very concerning laugh.

He says: "I don't think I've got any fears or phobias, but I'm about to find out.

"I'm Matt Hancock, I'm the MP for West Suffolk, and I'm best known for being the former health secretary.

"A lot of people will criticise a sitting MP going to the jungle, but showing that we politicians are normal human beings is actually really important.

"Now, I don't have a mission statement. I'm just gonna go and be myself. If I'm asked to do a trial, just hope I can find those stars.

"I've got absolutely no idea how I'll deal with snakes; I've never come across live snake before.

"Eating bugs? I'm sure it'll be fine. You can just get it down you, can't you? What? Eating bums? That is not part of the show, is it?"

Oh Matty, you're in for a surprise, son.

Unsurprisingly, the video left people with lots of questions, the main one being: what is going on with his laugh?

Writing on Twitter, one user said: "Matt Hancock's laugh in his entrance video is going to haunt me in my sleep for weeks."

Another chipped in: "Couldn't sleep last night after hearing Matt Hancock's laugh."

"Matt Hancock's laugh sounds like a robot trying to laugh," put a third.

While another added: "Matt Hancock’s laugh is scarier than most things in the jungle."

Speaking previously about his motivations definitely not the huge amount of cash he's getting, Hancock said: "When I’m in camp, people will see the real me. Lots of people have a view on me from being health secretary in the pandemic, dealing with some very difficult issues, but that's not the whole story.

"I am looking forward to throwing myself into it all like I do everything in life. You can't hide anything in the jungle, you see somebody warts and all."

Mr Hancock was suspended from the Tory party when it was revealed he would be joining the latest season of the hit show.

He was criticised for taking time out of his £84,000 a year job as a politician to film a reality TV show in Australia while parliament was sitting.

Chief chip Simon Hart MP said said: "Following a conversation with Matt Hancock, I have considered the situation and believe this is a matter serious enough to warrant suspension of the whip with immediate effect."

There's also been a petition organised by a group called Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice, who are also pretty displeased with Hancock for taking the I'm A Celeb job.

More than 40,000 people have signed the online campaign.

The petition organisers wrote on the 38 Degrees site: "Matt Hancock isn’t a ‘celebrity’, he’s the health secretary who oversaw the UK having one of the highest death tolls in the world from Covid-19 whilst breaking his own lockdown rules.

"The fact that he is trying to cash in on his terrible legacy, rather than showing some humility or seeking to reflect on the appalling consequences of his time in Government says it all about the sort of his person he is."
