Morgan Freeman’s voice on helium is absolutely hilarious

Ever wondered what God would sound like on helium?

Morgan Freeman has one of the most distinctive voices in cinema.

You play a recording to almost anyone, and they will be able to pick out that it's God in about a millisecond.

But what would his silky tones sound like if they were dosed with a touch of helium?

Well, today is your lucky day, because we have just the thing for you.

A few years ago, the Hollywood legend sat down for a chat with Jimmy Fallon, who took the opportunity to try the experiment out.

In a clip from their interview, Fallon says: "I do love your voice and everyone loves your voice, but I was wondering what your voice would sound like if you were on helium.

"So I thought maybe, I'd just do the same interview, conducting the interview, but before we talk... "

A fairly reticent looking Freeman stares blankly back at Fallon, as if to say, 'Not a chance'.

Pleading with him to take part, the host says: "Come on, Morgan, come on, Morgan. Don't quit on me now, Morgan! Don't cramp up in me now."

But being the pro that he is, the Shawshank Redemption star agrees to give it a go.

Together, the pair then take a breath from their balloons, with Fallon, now decidedly more high-pitched, asking: "Do you ever wanna go to space?"

To which Morgan, not quite a squeaky but there's a definite change to the timbre, replies: "I really shouldn't be doing this.

"It's very undignified."

Fallon then jokes that he's making fun of people who naturally have high voices, assuring him that it's 'not undignified'.

So, to prove a point, Freeman takes a huge gulp from his balloon, and comes back with a piercing: "See, I told you."

The clip has been shared countless times since it was first posted to the talk show's YouTube account.

And unsurprisingly, it has left many people in absolute hysterics.

One viewer joked: "Regular Freeman: Voice of god. Helium Freeman: Voice of mini god."

Another quipped: "Okay that was genuinely funny!!"

While someone else put: "This just made me laugh so hard that I now literally have tears in my eyes."
