Mariah Carey's Team Think She Was Sabotaged For Ratings

"Shit happens."

Mariah Carey's team reckon her car-crash performance on New Year's Eve was deliberately sabotaged by TV executives to boost ratings.

Before she took to the stage, Carey 'repeatedly' told producers that her earpieces weren't working, but they didn't do anything to fix the problem, according to the Daily Mail.

Instead, she was reassured by staff that it would be OK once she was on stage, which, looking at the footage, was clearly not the case.

Her team went on to tell the paper that an earlier rehearsal went off 'without a hitch'.

Dick Clark Productions, which put the show on, has said the claims that it would purposefully do this to a star are "defamatory, outrageous and frankly absurd."

The company said in addition: "In very rare instances there are of course technical errors that can occur with live television. However, an initial investigation has indicated that DCP had no involvement in the challenges associated with Ms. Carey's New Year's Eve performance.

"We want to be clear that we have the utmost respect for Ms. Carey as an artist and acknowledge her tremendous accomplishments in the industry."

Anyway, Carey didn't seem too bothered by thing, if you ask me.
