Kate Winslet has spilled the tea on her brief off-screen relationship with her co-star when she was 21.

The Titanic actor appeared on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show recently to promote her upcoming WWII biopic titled Lee.

“Lee was something that was a very important part of my life for almost 10 years,” the 48-year-old said.

“It just took a long time to really get the script right and put the funding together.”

On the plot, Winslet explained: “It is a film that is about the phenomenal World War II war correspondent, Lee Miller.

"[An] American woman, she was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York.

"She was a model for a while, she was actually largely known as Man Ray’s muse.

"And what we have done in our film is to tell a side of her life that's never been seen before, which is her as a middle-aged woman who went to war with her Rolleiflex camera and photographed the atrocities of the Nazi regime for the readers of British Vogue.

“[It's] coming out in September. September 13th. I'm incredibly excited for people to see it.”

Also on the radio show, Winslet opened up about her The Holiday co-star Rufus Sewell, 56, who recently played Prince Andrew in Netflix's Scoop.

Gillian Anderson stars as BBC journalist Emily Maitlis, who famously secured the 'car crash' Newsnight interview with Prince Andrew, Duke of York in November 2019.

When asked if she's seen it, Winslet said: “No. But I bumped into Gillian Anderson at an event not very long ago, and I was asking her about it."

She then revealed her brief romance with the British actor, saying: “And Rufus Sewell is so terrific, you know, I used to go out with Rufus Sewell years ago.

"Back in the day, a long time ago, I think I must have been 21 or something.

"He's so fantastic and to see him front and centre in a way that I think we haven't done on British television for a long, long time, very long time, I'm really, really excited to see what he does.”

The pair were reportedly together for around three months in the late 90s, years before they starred together in The Holiday (2006).

"We're very good friends but it was never a serious relationship," she explained, adding that they remain good friends to this day.
