Benson Boone issues apology after being caught 'aggressively' adjusting crotch during Grammys performance

The singer was struggling in his particularly tight jumpsuit

Wardrobe malfunctions have long gone hand in hand with live awards shows, as singer Benson Boone found out during last night's Grammys.

The annual celebration of music's biggest and greatest took place last night (2 February) in Los Angeles, with the 'Best New Artist' nominee performing his breakout song 'Beautiful Things' in-front of industry icons as well as viewers at home.

Boone made sure to pull out all of the stops for the performance, which featured numerous back flips as well as Heidi Klum and comedian Nikki Glaser ripping off his suit.

However, the strong performance was ultimately overshadowed by one unfortunately timed crotch grab.

In Boone's defence, the sparkly blue jumpsuit did appear to be extremely tight and the high energy performance meant that his junk would've come flying out of place during the back flip off the piano.

However, none of this mattered to the internet, who were keen to make sure the moment was immortalised forever.

"Benson Boone and this beautiful thing that he’s got at the #GRAMMYs," one user joked, while sharing a clip of the moment on X. A second added: "Benson Boone needing a little shift."

"I will be thinking about Benson Boone’s crotch grab for…a WHILE," a third user said.

Meanwhile, others were debating whether or not the adjustment was done on purpose or if Boone simply forgot that he was on stage at the Grammys and being watched by millions.

"As if he didn't do it on purpose to get attention," one unimpressed user replied to the clip.

"Gotta try get people to watch his performance some how I guess," another joked.

The moment - as well as peoples' reactions - inevitably reached the ears of Boone himself, who later took to Instagram in order to share an apology for rearranging his meat and two veg.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, the 22-year-old shared a snap of his best 'Handsome Squidward' impression alongside the following statement: "Sorry for adjusting my jumpsuit so aggressively on stage tonight that thing was extremely restricting in certain areas."

Which is fair enough, as no one enjoys a wedgie or uncomfortably tight pants, but maybe he could've turned away from the cameras before sorting himself out.

However, the skintight jumpsuit didn't win 'Most uncomfortable looking outfit of the night' as that honour went to Kanye West's wife Bianca Censori and her invisible dress - or Jaden Smith wearing an actual house on his head, depending on who you ask.

Oh, and that wasn't just for the red carpet either as he was actually photographed wearing it inside the venue as well. Take your pick.
