Fans slam Harry Styles for 'shameless' outfit on stage at the Grammys

Harry Styles has been brutally mocked online for his outfit choice at this year's Grammy Awards.

When he's not rocking up to the announcement of Pope Leo XIV or killing the concept of a world tour with his seven city Together, Together residency, the 32-year-old is showing up to the Grammys.

Styles was invited onto the stage to hand out the award for 'Album of the Year', which went to Bad Bunny's Debí Tirar Mas Fotos, and let's just say he made some interesting fashion choices.

Now, it's not uncommon to see wacky ensembles at celebrity award shows, with singer Chappell Roan shocking viewers with her X-rated nipple dress.

And who could forget Bianca Censori's dress that really wasn't a dress at last year's ceremony.

However, Mr Styles had shown up in something much more mundane, opting for some baggy jeans, a sparkly cropped blazer and mint green mules, which you can see below:

And I'm not going to lie... it looks like something my mother would've been wearing back in the mid-noughties.

But probably 10 times as expensive.

The interesting ensemble certainly left viewers scratching their heads and going 'huh', with many taking to social media to mercilessly tease the 'Watermelon Sugar' singer.

"Sir what’s going on with the jeans… i know you know how to dress and i KNOW you have money," commented one person on X, while a second penned: "Son of a b***h showed up in jeans at the Grammy you have no shame on your face huh Harry Styles."

A third tweeted: "I can't believe Harry rolled up to the Grammys in JEANS."

And the jokes didn't stop there either.

"Harry literally never wearing jeans and then deciding to pull up to the grammys of all places in jeans lmfaoooo," said someone else.

"Grammys at 7 bday party at 9," joked another person, noting that the ceremony collided with the singer's 32nd birthday.

Meanwhile, some fans rushed to Styles' defence, with one writing: "I just love everything about this fit. The jeans and the cute flats, the sparkly jacket. His hair."

And another commented: "I swear to god only harry styles could make an outfit out of three completely random things you find in the back of your closet look incredible."

It's pretty hard to upstage a nipple dress, but trust Harry Styles to pull through.

Is there a dress code for the Grammys?

Given the unusual outfits which crop up alongside the typical suits and dresses every year, many have wondered if there is an actual dress code for the event – with a producer confirming the existence of an 'artistic black-tie' guideline for attendees.

"Obviously there is a dress code for anybody actually performing on the show that we have to adhere to standards and practices. But as far as people attending and nominees attending, that would be something the [Recording] Academy [presents the Grammys] would have to answer," producer Raj Kapoor told PEOPLE last year.

He added: "In the music industry, I guess that's up for interpretation."
