Disabled woman shocked at Chris Martin’s incredible gesture at Radio 1’s Big Weekend

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin had spotted her struggling

Even when he's got a huge show to do, you can count on Chris Martin to be an absolute sweetheart when he spots someone in distress.

The Coldplay frontman, 47, managed to make a disabled fan's day at Radio 1's Big Weekend after he spotted her struggling.

Saundra Glenn was left stunned when the megastar pulled up alongside her on his way backstage in a black Mercedes and a member of his team stuck their head out of the motor to offer her a lift.

The 64-year-old, who suffers from osteoarthritis and has 'a dodgy right hip', explained she was making her way towards the accessibility box office at the popular festival in Stockwood Park, Luton.

Saundra took a break to stop and rest against a fence as her ailments were playing up while she was heading inside, which is when Chris stepped in.

Recalling the incredible moment, Saundra told the BBC: "The door opens and I said, 'Oh, that's Chris Martin, I can't get in with him' and they said, 'Yes, you can'."

The music lover - and Coldplay super fan - admitted she had been debating whether to go home and watch their headline gig on TV before her favourite artist pulled up alongside her.

She continued: "But I thought, I love Coldplay and never thought I'd get another chance to see them in my home town."

Saundra said the musician even offered to help her get inside the Mercedes, which she politely declined.

But she ended up getting quite comfortable in the flash car as she sat alongside the singer - as the pair had a good old chinwag before grabbing a smiling selfie together on their short journey.

Adorably, Chris took Saundra through to the artist's area with him, before helping to arrange further transport for her to get to where she needed to be for the show.

She gushed: "He didn't leave me there, he said, 'Get the golf buggy and make sure Saundra reaches her destination'.

"It's the fact he's conscious of disability - he's such a kind person."

Saundra shared her selfie with the singer in a post on X too, telling people he was as a proper 'decent bloke'.

The post read: "That moment when Chris Martin @Coldplay saw me struggling to walk, had his car stop and gave me a lift. Blooming amazing. Can’t believe this happened. We had a nice chat too."

Saundra also went on to reveal she had shared a few sweet moments in the motor with her knight in shining armour, as she was 'clutching his shoulder' while they were 'having a chat like two old women'.

She said the Brit musician was left laughing when she told him: "I'm 64 Chris, I don't do festivals, I've come just to see you and now I've seen you and I can go home."

The pair also discussed Coldplay's set list for their performance and the band's rehearsal for their headline slot - while Saundra urged him to change their lyrics to hit song 'Yellow' to 'Orange' in honour of Luton - a place Chris said he was a fan of.

Hilariously, she also suggested that the millionaire should try out the 'Chicken George' takeaway she frequents.

Saundra said Radio 1's Big Weekend was 'the coolest festival she's been to' - and hitchhiking with her hero was the icing on the cake.

"He gave me an act of kindness that I'll forever be grateful for, and he's given Luton its cool back, thank you," she added.
