The incident is now the focus of an upcoming Netflix documentary, titled Amy Bradley is Missing, which is set to release on 16 July.
This joins the ever-growing list of true crime documentaries on the streaming service, including the recent critically acclaimed documentary about the 7/7 bombings.
Who is Amy Bradley and how did she go missing?

Bradley was just 23 when she went missing from the cruise ship, called the Rhapsody of the Seas, in the early hours of 24 March, 1998.

She had stayed up drinking and dancing with her brother, Brad Bradley, and the ship’s band, with Brad going to his room at 3.30am.
Her father Ron claims to have been awoken sometime between 5.15am and 5.30am and saw her from the legs down in her room with Brad sleeping in a lounge chair on the room’s balcony.
This was the last time her family saw her as Ron returned at around 6am and this time she was gone.
What theories are there about her disappearance and what has her family said?
There have been a number of ‘sightings’ of Bradley of various levels of validity, all of which fuel various theories about what happened.
One of the most common theories is that she was kidnapped and trafficked, something that is supported largely by a Navy officer in Curaçao claiming to have met a sex worker named Amy Bradley who asked for their help.

Others have claimed to have spotted a woman matching her description in Curaçao, including a Canadian couple who described her tattoos as matching and claimed not to have known about the Amy Bradley situation.
Her family maintain that she could not have killed herself, pointing to how she had recently adopted a new dog, Daisy, and was set to pick her up when she got back.
The family’s spokesperson, Marianne Noblin, told Times-Dispatch: “Somebody threw her off that ship, or somebody has her.”
The Netflix documentary interrogates the many theories and leads that have emerged over the 27 years during which she has been missing.
Amy Bradley is Missing will release on Netflix on 16 July.
