All the parts of the Ed Gein season of Monster which are true have been revealed.
Fans have been left shocked by the latest Netflix series, following on from the controversy of its preceding seasons.
We've seen the likes of Jeffrey Dahmer and the Menendez brothers become the subjects for Monster in past seasons, but it's arguably taken on its most twisted mind yet with the Butcher of Plainfield.

Creator Ryan Murphy has faced criticism from the families of Dahmer's victims and the Menendez brothers themselves in recent years, but it hasn't stopped him from going to new lengths to shock the audience, with Charlie Hunnam taking on the role of Gein.
While the British actor's accent in the role has come under fire after rare old tapes of Gein resurfaced, sounding different to the one he put on, the season has once against portrayed the killer-subject in a controversial manner.
For those who aren't aware, Ed Gein was a confirmed double murderer who was also found to grave-rob corpses to turn into furniture and clothes with skin and bones.
Monster: The Ed Gein Story unsurprisingly made its way into Netflix's Top 10 for the weekend, but fans have been wondering about which parts of the series are true, and which have been twisted for Hollywood's sake, as the Menendez brothers claimed about the season based on their crimes.

Spoilers ahead.
Did Ed Gein have a love affair with Bernice Worden before murdering her?
It's said that the show is reaching a bit when it comes to the relationship between Gein and hardshop store owner Bernice Worden as romantic.
Gein told investigators that he wanted her, as she looked like his mother, though in the show, it shows him sleeping with Worden before rejecting her in the hardware store, prior to shooting her.
The murder itself is consistent with what happened in real life, though investigators only questioned Gein on the show due to a gift tag to 'Eddie' from the store owner, when in real life, Gein was identified after he left a receipt for antifreeze behind.

But while at Central State Hospital after his crimes, Gein claimed he'd never had a sexual experience, in line with the religious upbringing instilled into him by his mother.
When it comes to finding Worden's decapitated body in his shed though, it is accurate to how the body appeared in crime scene snaps.
Did Ed Gein kill Mary Hogan?
Hogan was not his first victim, though Gein was arrested following the disappearance of the tavern owner.
Following the investigation which led to a number of grisly discoveries in his home, Gein himself admitted to shooting and killing Hogan in 1954, with her skull and some skin found in his home.

This is despite him never being a suspect - he was never tried for her death, as he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and found to be mentally incompetent, meaning he was unfit for trial. Gein would confess to the murder.
Did Ed Gein kill his brother?
In the first episode, we see Gein killing his 43-year-old older brother, Henry, after he wanted to get away from their mother, Augusta.

The show claims that Gein uses a piece of wood to strike Henry and drag his body into the woods in a staged brush fire to explain his passing.

Fires in the area were common, as Henry's body had serious burns, though the cause of death was given as asphyxiation leading to heart failure.
There were markings which could have been wounds, but foul play was ruled out at the time. However, after Gein confessed to killing two women, there was suspicion around his involvement in Henry's death, but it was never confirmed he actually had any involvement.
Was Ed Gein actually a babysitter?
This is true. While the series portrays Gein as someone so unorthodox that people in the community don't like sitting near him, it's believed that he was liked by locals in his younger years, taking up odd jobs around town.
Gein would even watch children while parents had to run an errand, though there's no evidence pointing to him driving children to his home to scare them with his remains, as is shown in Monster.

Did Ed Gein have a human skull bowl?
We can see the serial killer eating from a bowl made out of a human skull in episode two, which is one of the many things he made from bodies he exhumed from cemeteries nearby.
Did Ed Gein put vulvas in a box?
This disturbing detail is true, and he kept it in his house.
Did Ed Gein wear body parts from exhumed bodies?
Gein confessed to wearing parts of bodies he had cut off from remains he unearthed, even saying that his disturbing connection to his mother made him want to become more like a woman.

After several visits to his mum's grave in the cemetery, Gein decided to do this by digging up female corpses and wearing their skin to feel more like them.
Was there an auction for Ed Gein's belongings?
It's said that numerous items from his home were put up for sale, as his farmhouse was set alight among other things.
Gein's car was bought for just $760 and was used to drive people around for a fee, though this was soon banned due to its origins.
