Netflix viewers are convinced three Adolescence moments are errors that weren’t in the script

The show has been a huge hit

Adolescence has become one of the most talked about shows in Netflix history since landing on the streaming platform earlier this month.

The thriller, which follows the story of a 13-year-old boy accused of the murder of one of his classmates, has had such a cultural impact that there are even calls from the public to show it in schools, to teach young boys about the dangers of toxic masculinity.

Owen Cooper, in his first ever acting role, has been much-acclaimed for his performance as Jamie, although the stardom did come with one significant setback for the teenager, after he was forced to drink something 'minging' in an intense scene with Briony Ariston (Erin Docherty) the psychologist.

Stephen Graham also stars in the four-part series, which much like his previous work Boiling Point, is also filmed in one take to leave audiences on the edge of their seat throughout.

Now, there are obvious risks when it comes to filming a show in one take, especially when you have teenagers with little to no acting experience involved, and naturally there will have been some mistakes.

As per The Tab, some keen-eyed viewers think they have worked out three errors from filming, which they feel were unscripted and made it into the final cut.

Jamie asking if the hot chocolate has sprinkles

In episode three, Jamie is brought a hot chocolate from the psychologist, which later ends up all over the floor - what a waste. He can be seen stuttering and asking if the drink has 'sprinkles', when in fact marshmallows would have made far more sense given that was what was in the drink. But considering how much effort it would take to start filming again over one minor detail, we can see why that one stayed in.

The teacher forgetting to introduce the female detective

In episode two, the headteacher at the school forgets to introduce the female detective, played by Faye Marsay. The headteacher says, 'oh I’m so sorry, Detective Sargeant Frank. I’m so sorry.' While this has led some viewers to believe this is a mistake, it would make sense for it to have been scripted given the misogynistic theme the show is trying to put across to the audience.

DI Bascombe asking if his son went into school

Finally, DI Bascome, played by Ashley Walters, seemingly slipped up in episode one, when he asked his wife if his son went into school, despite it only being 6am at the time. He quickly corrects himself and asks 'is he going in', which makes more sense unless his son was just a very keen learner.
