Jussie Smollett 'hoax' details left out of Netflix show as he breaks silence

The Netflix documentary has been deeply controversial

Jussie Smollett has broken his silence on the incident in which he was jailed for ‘faking’ a hate crime in which he claimed to have been attacked by two men who poured bleach on him.

Smollett spoke out in a brand-new Netflix documentary titled The Truth About Jussie Smollett?, which marked his first time speaking on the incident in almost five years.

While the documentary promised to provide answers as to what ‘really happened’ in the incident that made global news, it has instead been slammed by fans and critics.

One of the major accusations made was that the documentary failed to address major details about the incident and, in some cases, even left out major details.

The documentary does not give a definitive answer on whether Jussie Smollett ‘hoax’ was real

The name of the documentary The Truth About Jussie Smollett? seems to promise that the doc will provide an answer to what happened.

Unfortunately, however, the question mark is the most important part of the title as, instead of providing an answer, the documentary instead simply provides both sides and leaves it up to the viewer to decide if Smollett committed the crime he was convicted for.

After the doc sets up the evidence of the case, it provides interviews with police officers and prosecutors, who clearly lay out why they feel Smollett carried out the hoax for which he was convicted.

In addition to this however, Jussie Smollett and a pair of journalists seem to accused the Chicago PD of corruption in failing to chase up leads of the two men who supposedly did it.

Smollett continues to deny his involvement, saying at the end of the documentary: "At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter whether someone likes me or doesn’t like me. It doesn’t matter whether you like the way I’m giving this interview... What is important is, regardless of what you think about me, flaws and all, flaws and greatness, whatever you think—joy and sorrow. I didn’t do that [fake a hate crime] and that’s all that matters."

Proof that the brothers involved were there for Jussie Smollett’s alleged assault

Fans on Reddit have pointed out that major details that suggest that the brothers who have admitted to taking part in Smollett’s fake attack were at the scene.

The Osundairo brothers, both of whom were acquaintances of the actor, have said they were paid to carry out the fake attack and a paper cheque was found.

Smollett claims however that the brothers were given the money for herbal steroids and goes as far as to accuse them of lying to and for the police in exchange for getting off on alleged gun charges, and that he was actually attacked by two white men who were never found

The Reddit sleuths however have pointed to details left out which further seem to prove the Osundairo’s point of view, that they were hired by Smollett to carry out the fake attack.

One commented countering the claims in the doc that there being no DNA from the brothers on the rope was not conclusive, saying: “As if … The MFers weren't wearing gloves on the coldest night of the year.

“Video, cab, and ride share information didn't put the Nigerian brothers in the same area at the same time of the 'attack' on Jussie (as well as track their asses all the way back to their North Chicago neighborhood).

“Video of these two idiots buying rope and red caps didn't exist. The brothers did not know or work with the same guy who is still claiming he was attacked by white assailants that very night!”
