People 'scared' after finding out who helped make Netflix's Leave the World Behind

Turns out there were two pretty big names helping make the film

While some of us might be rewatching all our favourite Christmas films at the moment, there’s something rather unfestive on Netflix that has everyone else spiralling.

Leave the World Behind landed last Friday (8 December) and has had viewers making scary realisations and kicking off about the ending.

Leave The World Behind has taken Netflix by storm.

Starring Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke and Kevin Bacon, the film logline reads: “A family’s vacation is upended when two strangers arrive at night, seeking refuge from a cyberattack that grows more terrifying by the minute, forcing everyone to come to terms with their places in a collapsing world.”

And while the ending might be particularly controversial, others are more ‘scared’ after finding out who helped make the Netflix film.

I’m not just talking about your regular movie producers and directors either, this is a former US president. Watch one TikTok user’s realisation here:

Yep, during the opening credits, former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama’s names show up and that’s because they helped produced the project.

Apparently the pair were massive fans of the 2020 novel of the same name that the Netflix film is based on.

The Obamas used their production company, Higher Ground Production, to help produce Leave the World Behind with Netflix.

Director Sam Esmail told Vanity Fair that Barack provided plenty of notes on the script, giving his take on how a real-world disaster like this would actually go.

It turns out former US President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, helped produce the project.

He added: “I am writing what I think is fiction, for the most part, I’m trying to keep it as true to life as possible, but I’m exaggerating and dramatizing.

“And to hear an ex-president say you’re off by a few details…I thought I was off by a lot! The fact that he said that scared the f**k out of me.”

Sharing her realisation to TikTok, the user said: “It’s giving ‘I signed an NDA but I wanna give you guys the tea so let me just drop a movie and you guys fill in the blanks’.”

She reckons the Obamas didn’t produce the movie ‘to scare us’ but to ‘educate us on what we need to be paying attention to’.

In the comments, users revealed they were ‘nervous’ about watching the film.

While another says: “That movie is tryna tell us something, I’m legit scared too girl.”

Others call it a ‘very scary movie’ as many echo that ‘everyone is talking about it’. And plenty joke they’re now looking for bunkers.
