Fans of The Umbrella Academy have finally got a first look at the fourth season.

People can finally start making a note on their calendars to remind them, as the final ever instalment of the hit superhero series will be dropping on Netflix this year.

Check it out:

Showrunner Steve Blackman has promised fans they will get to enjoy a 'fitting end' to the story of the Hargreeves siblings, but they've got one last whirlwind adventure to get through first.

Viewers will remember that series three ended with quite a major twist - the brothers and sisters lose their powers as a new timeline has been dictated by the eccentric billionaire and family patriarch, Sir Reginald Hargreeves.

To add insult to injury, there are new villains for the Hargreeves siblings to take on, which is going to prove a lot more difficult without their extraordinary abilities.

Teasing fans about the ending of The Umbrella Academy, Blackman said in a statement: "I'm so excited that the incredibly loyal fans will be able to experience the fitting end to the Hargreeves siblings' journey we began five years ago.

Netflix has revealed when the fourth and final season will be released.

"But before we get to that conclusion, we've got an amazing story ahead for season four, one that will have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes."

In a chat with Tudum, he added: "This new timeline has been dictated by [Reginald], who reprogrammed the universe at the end of the Season 3 finale. But because of Allison’s actions, he didn’t get to finish what he started.

"So, the siblings losing their powers isn’t going to be the only oddity in this timeline."

If you've never had the pleasure of watching the action-packed series, the long and short of it is that a very dysfunctional family made up of adopted superheroes who reconcile to get to the bottom of their father's mysterious death.

On top of that, there is also the threat of an imminent apocalypse for them to worry about.
