A new Netflix show has been deemed to have the ‘best opening ever’ due to its gripping first three minutes that are sure to shock viewers.

Oftentimes the opening scene to a TV show can be make or break, particularly in the current climate in which viewers have 1,000s of options and ever-shrinking attention spans.

Other Netflix shows such as Beef have similarly been praised for their gripping opening scenes that leave viewers hooked, and that went on to be a massive success and receive a second season.

This series has fans saying that it has an even better opening, however, and it’s hard to argue – but warning for those who haven’t figured it out yet, we will be spoiling the Netflix show’s opening scene.

Called Untamed, the Eric Bana show opens with an unsettling scene that will have anyone afraid of heights on the edge of their seat from moment one.

It shows two men climbing up the side of a cliff face in Yosemite in the US, leaving viewers terrified that one of them is going to fall off the side.

Instead, after a small slip, a dead body comes flying at them from the top of the cliff, narrowly missing the climbers and catching in their line.

One of them comes flying off the side with the safety equipment of the climbers narrowly saving their life.

The show follows Bana as Kyle Turner, a National Parks service officer investigating the shocking death.

He is joined in the cast by Sam Neill, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Daredevil star Wilson Bethel.

After watching the tense and shocking first scene some fans took to social media to discuss it.

One tweeted: “New Netflix show UNTAMED has one of the best, most attention-grabbing opening scenes I've seen in any TV show in a long, long time. Immediately hooked. Highly recommended.”

Thankfully for those worried though, the show doesn’t just have a grabby opening, it appears to translate into a super fun watch that is sure to shoot up the Netflix charts.

Carol Midgley wrote a very positive review for The Times, giving it a four star score and specifically praising the opening.

She said in her review: “If you like your TV series to start with a bang and to cause a severe drop to your stomach then Untamed certainly delivers on that score.

“The first three minutes of Netflix’s new thriller, set in Yosemite National Park and starring Eric Bana, Sam Neill and Lily Santiago, is one of the most visually dramatic openings to a drama that I’ve seen in some time.”

Variety’s Aramide Tinubu gave the show a glowing review, saying: “Deeply layered and gripping, Untamed is a brilliant detective tale anchored by some of our worst human impulses.

“A series about justice, control and who gets to be remembered, it’s also a reminder that in the end, our true nature will always be revealed.”

Untamed is available to watch on Netflix now.
