Netflix viewers have found a brand-new show to binge, and it’s a new cult drama which some said they are ‘totally captivated’ by.
This has been a big week for Netflix in large part due to the release of House of Guinness, the brand new historical drama which sees the major return of Game of Thrones actor Jack Gleeson.
Though it was dubbed ‘the next Peaky Blinders’, House of Guinness has been met with mixed reviews, and has not been the best reviewed of the shows that Netflix released this week.

That titled goes to a TV series which follows a cop investigating a ‘local school for troubled teens’, suspecting it may not be everything it’s making out to be. Called Wayward, the series stars Toni Colette and Mae Martin and has had viewers binging it in just one evening.
The show is created by Mae Martin, the comedian and writer who also created and starred in Feel Good.
Also on Netflix, Feel Good is one of the most underrated shows of the last decade with a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Wayward marks Martin’s return to Netflix and, whilst it hasn’t been met with the same unanimous praise, it has already received positive responses from fans.
Debuting at number seven on Netflix’s charts in the UK, Wayward currently sits at 76% on Rotten Tomatoes and received huge praise from major critics.
Lucy Mangan, the Guardian’s resident TV expert and critic, gave the show a four-star review, saying that Toni Colette’s performance is ‘utterly magnificent’.
She said: “The star plays the terrifying leader at an academy for troubled teenagers in Netflix’s mesmerising mystery by Mae Martin.
“Wayward is stylish and hugely watchable – it’s hard for one’s inner adolescent to look away from a punchy eight-parter where so many comeuppances are delivered to horrible grownups.”

This was echoed by David Opie from Digital Spy who had minor criticisms but ultimately gave it four stars.
He said: “A queer twisty genre blending thriller that goes places you won't expect, even if it tries to do a little too much at points.
“Toni Collette is predictably great, but it's Mae Martin who steals the show (which they also created).”
One thread on Reddit featured some people continuing this love for Wayward, with one or two disagreeing.

One comment read: “I was totally captivated and watched the whole thing in one evening. Wow!”
A second fan concurred, replying saying: “Binged it all today. 8/10 better than anything else I’ve seen recently.”

A third said: “I watched the entire thing this morning. Don’t worry I won’t spoil anything. But I am happy.
“What an absolute win for Mae Martin in taking on this role. They did so well IMO. I look forward to much more of their works in the future because of it.”

Others, however, were more middling, agreeing with Digital Spy’s idea it tried to do too much in just eight episodes.
One comment said: “I kind of liked it but the last episode had way too many loose ends for my liking.”
With the debut of Wayward, House of Guinness, and the return of Monster just around the corner, Netflix fans will not be short of options in the coming weeks.
Wayward is available to stream on Netflix now.
