Stephen Graham's wife made surprising cameo in Adolescence and she stars in a number of his shows

Stephen Graham's wife Hannah Walters appeared in new Netflix drama Adolescence, which has been gaining rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.

It follows the aftermath of the murder of a young girl (Emilia Holliday) where the police reckon the killer was her classmate Jamie (Owen Cooper), who asks for his dad Eddie (Graham) to be his appropriate adult and be by his side.

Joining Graham in the cast are some actors he's worked with before, including A Thousand Blows co-stars Ashley Walters and Erin Doherty, along with his wife.

Hannah Walters appears in the second episode of Adolescence as the teacher Mrs Bailey, who speaks to student Jade (Fatima Bojang) about punching another pupil.

They then discuss the murder and Jade's relationship with her family.

Fans of Stephen Graham will likely have recognised his wife as she's appeared in a number of other productions he's been involved in.

She appeared throughout the run of This Is England, while she and her husband also both appeared in the likes of Boiling Point, Time and the latter two Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

While she and her husband met while training as actors, Hannah Walters has also enjoyed a highly successful career as a producer working on the short film Pop, both the feature and series of Boiling Point, A Thousand Blows and now Adolescence.

In a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Graham credited her with coming up with the idea to get Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight on board with for A Thousand Blows.

"I was like, 'you've got no chance'," the actor said after she'd first suggested getting him on board with the project, but explained how she soon got him on board.

"She went 'trust me, watch, I'm gonna get this made', and I was like 'alright love'.

"She sent it to Steve, the photograph, and three or four days later I was in the kitchen making her a cup of tea... and she just went 'oi, come here'. I said 'what'. She went 'come and have a look at this'.

"I looked and she had a response from Steve saying 'I really love it, I want to get involved and I'd love to write it'."

Back in 2020 they'd founded the company Matriarch Productions together, and in the past Graham has said that due to his dyslexia Walters has read scripts for him and helped him choose projects.

When he starred in the pandemic drama Help she read the script and told him it was 'amazing'.
