Netflix's newest true crime series has 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and is taking over the internet.

Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives is a wild ride. It shares the story of how restauranteur Sarma Melngailis met her husband Shane Fox, real name Anthony Strangis, and the chaos that ensues.

The true crime series currently outranks the likes of popular series Tinder Swindler and Worst Roommate Ever, with 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Throughout the four-part series Melngailis drains funds from the New York establishment she co-funded, Pure Food and Wine, to give to Strangis.

Strangis claimed he could help the restauranteur with money issues and making her beloved dog immortal, a claim that Strangis denies.

According to Vanity Fair, Melngailis 'transferred more than $1.6 million from her business accounts to her personal bank account, and Strangis spent $1.2 million of this money at Connecticut casinos'.

After her employees were left with unpaid wages in 2015, they stages a walk out, the restaurant closed soon after.

The pair were meanwhile on the run as fugitives and were eventually found in a Tennessee motel, when Strangis ordered a pizza using his real name.

Critics have praised the show since it's release, taking to Rotten Tomatoes to share their thoughts.

One critic, Alissa Wilinson, said: "By not just telling us about the scam, but letting us feel a little of it ourselves, Bad Vegan gives us something less smug -- and a little more of a story worth telling'.

As Wilinson notes, the series does let viewers fill in the gaps a little more than usual, with Melngailis playing a keep part in how the story is told.

She relays particular parts of the story in clips that cut through the action.

However, while Melngailis contributed to the series she has since said the ending of the show was misleading.

The series concludes with a call of the pair laughing and joking being featured after they served prison time, which Netflix claims is from 2019, something Melngailis has since addressed.

She took to her website to note: "The ending of Bad Vegan is disturbingly misleading; I am not in touch with Anthony Strangis and I made those recordings at a much earlier time, deliberately, for a specific reason."

While she added that there is a lot that that show 'gets right', she would like to 'clear up more' about what happened.
