Kanye West says he used to drink orange and Grey Goose in the morning, before he turned his life around.

The artist has spoken out over his battle with alcoholism and admitted that he thought he might never rap again.

Speaking to GQ, the 42-year-old revealed that it was only when he learned that his pastor's son was a fan of his that he decided to return to the studio and record his 2019 album Jesus is King.

He said: "I was thinking of not rapping again, because I rapped for the devil so long that I didn't even know how to rap for God.

"Then one of my pastors told me, 'My son just said that he would want a rap album about Jesus from Kanye West.'

"He didn't say, 'Kanye West, you should do this,' or 'You need to do this.' He just told me something that a child said. And that one thing made the difference."

Expanding on his battle with drink, Kanye told the publication: "One day I was in my office working on the couture collection, and there was some Grey Goose in the fridge and I was just going to get a daytime drink, and I looked and thought, 'Devil, you're not going to beat me today.'

"That one statement is like a tattoo.

"I haven't had a drink since I realised I needed to take it day by day, but I never owned up, or was even told, 'Hey, you're a functioning alcoholic.'

"People have called me a crazy person, people have called me everything - but not a functioning alcoholic. And I would be drinking orange juice and Grey Goose in the morning."

The rapper and his wife recently had a public exchange with Taylor Swift.

This comes just a few weeks after a phone call between Taylor Swift and Kanye was leaked, appearing to prove that he never actually put the infamous lyric 'I made that b***h famous' to the 'Shake It Off' singer.

In the footage of their long-debated chat, the 42-year-old rapper told Swift about the lyric in his song 'Famous' where he says: "For all my Southside n*****s that know me best, I feel Taylor Swift might owe me sex."

The 25 minute clip, which can be found here, shows that Kanye never actually warned her about the 'I made that b***h famous' line.

During the chat, Kanye tells Taylor: "It has a very controversial line at the beginning of the song about you," but he assures her: "I don't think it's mean."
