People want Dave Bautista to play Kratos in the God of War TV show now that he’s leaving Marvel

People are calling for Dave Bautista to play Kratos in the God of War TV spin-off now that he’s left the MCU.

With a TV series about the legendary video game franchise finally in the works, the internet believes the Glass Onion actor would be perfect for the character, who is based on Greek mythology.

Look, he does strike an eerie resemblance.

One person wrote on Twitter:“I would be all for it. He'd do great.”

Another chimed in: “This needs to happen #GodofWar.”

While a third said: “I've spent a lot of time thinking about this for the past month and Dave Bautista is far and away the best option to play Kratos for Amazon's God of War TV series. In fact, it all lines up a bit too perfectly for him to take on the character.”

While the movement has made some noise on the internet, the voice actor of Kratos in the video game series, Christopher Judge, didn’t exactly give his tick of approval.

Earlier this week, he wrote: “And it’s been said I can’t read a room.”

In a follow-up tweet, he added: “Don’t get me wrong, I think @DaveBautista is great, but…”

Bautista will soon be free from the Marvel Cinematic Universe after confirming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be his last performance.

He said: “I’m so grateful for Drax. I love him. But there’s a relief [that it’s over]. It wasn’t all pleasant. It was hard playing that role. The makeup process was beating me down.

“And I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy - it’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff.”

Little is known about the series so far; however, recently, it was reported that Wheel of Time boss Rafe Judkins would serve as showrunner.

Academy Award nominees Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man, The Expanse) will also jump on board to write and executive produce alongside Judkins.

Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios will also produce with PlayStation Productions.

For those of you who aren’t up to speed, God of War follows Kratos, a Spartan warrior who later becomes the Greek God of War.

He gets tricked into killing his wife and daughter during a village raid by the original God of War Ares.

Kratos ventures on a treacherous journey with his estranged son, Atreus, to fulfil his wife’s dying wish to have her ashes spread from the highest peak.

However, this sets off a series of wars in different mythological pantheons, with Kratos and Ares eventually coming face-to-face.

Head of global television at Amazon Studios, Vernon Sanders, said in a statement, as per Deadline: “God of War is a compelling, character-driven franchise that we believe will captivate our global customers as much with its expansive and immersive worlds as its rich storytelling.

“We are honoured to share in the adventure of exploring the God of War mythology in such a momentous way with Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Santa Monica Studio."
