Pierce Brosnan doesn’t care for James Bond and dislikes one film in particular

Pierce Brosnan was the quintessential James Bond for a generation, but he's clearly not mad about the series

Pierce Brosnan, the star who is almost certainly the face of James Bond for an entire generation, has revealed that he’s actually not that keen on the 007 movies after all, singling out one in particular that he ain’t mad about.

Brosnan was the quintessential James Bond for anyone born in the late 80s or early 90s.

At that point, he was all anyone knew, starring in Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough, and Die Another Day before handing over the baton to Daniel Craig in 2002.

While he’s obviously had a long and successful career outside Her Majesty’s Secret Service, starring in films such as Mrs Doubtfire, Mamma Mia! and The Thomas Crown Affair, you’d think that he might look back on his time in the black tuxedo and think he did some of his finest work there.

But you’d be wrong.

Before we move on – it’s worth noting that the next James Bond – whoever that may be – will be the first to be on His Majesty’s Secret Service, which is interesting, right?

JAMES BOND PRODUCERS EXPLAIN WHY IDRIS ELBA IS UNLIKELY TO LAND THE ROLE

OK, back to Brosnan.

In a recent interview with GQ, the Irish actor said that despite playing the world’s most famous spy for more than a decade, he couldn’t give a flying f*** about who gets the role next.

He said: “Who should do it? I don’t care,

“It’ll be interesting to see who they get, who the man shall be.

“Whoever he be, I wish him well.”

That doesn’t sound too bad, however the interviewer on that occasion noted that the 69-year-old seemed to be delivering those comments in a ‘tone that indicates it’s maybe not actually that interesting’.

To be fair, outside of the content possibilities, it isn’t that interesting, is it?

Maybe Brosnan is right, whoever gets the gig will get it. Anyway, he doesn’t have shade to throw at all of the James Bond films.

When asked about Daniel Craig’s efforts, he said that at least he liked 2012’s Skyfall.

“I saw the last one and I saw Skyfall. I love Skyfall.”

However, of the most recent No Time to Die, he said: “I’m not too sure about the last one. Daniel always gives of his heart. Very courageous, very strong. But…”

That tailed off sentence probably tells us all we need to know.

However, it’s not Craig’s fault.

He did praise Daniel Craig's performances though.

In another interview, he did clarify: “I have the greatest admiration for Daniel Craig and what he did.

“The physicality he brought to the performance was monumental.”

True, he is a very fit-looking guy.

However, for those of a certain age, there can only be one real James Bond.
