After consecutive Covid-19 related push backs, the latest James Bond film No Time To Die hit cinemas last week.

It seems the decision to delay the release has been vindicated, as the movie had the biggest UK box office opening weekend of any Bond film ever, raking in £25.9m ($35.29m) between Friday and Sunday.

But the question now is - who will be the next Bond?

A lot of people think Jodie Comer would be perfect for the part.
Universal Pictures

No Time To Die was Craig's final outing as the iconic secret agent, leaving a vacancy for one of the most coveted roles in film.

Every man and his dog seems to have an opinion on who should play the part. Even Boris Johnson has got involved, insisting it has to be a man, while Labour opposition Keir Starmer said it should be a woman.

Among those who are Team Starmer on this, many feel Jodie Comer would make for the ideal candidate to replace Craig.

The 28-year-old has wowed audiences with her portrayal of assassin Villanelle in Killing Eve and is now starring in huge films, such as Free Guy with Ryan Reynolds and the upcoming Ridley Scott historical drama The Last Duel.

Whatever the part and however big the production, Comer shines. As such, a lot of people can't see a reason why she couldn't make history as the first female James Bond.

But does Comer even want to be involved with the franchise?

Speaking to LADbible, she said: "Ehm... when I've got Villanelle?

"Isn't she her own Bond in a way? [with] A little bit of flavour on top.

"But no, look, never say [never], who knows what comes your way."

So that's hardly a yes, but it's not quite a no either.

In the meantime, we have her final outing as extra flavoursome psychopathic Russian Bond alternative Villanelle to look forward to. The final season began shooting in the summer and it is set to air next year.
