Ryan Reynolds says being on Korea’s The Masked Singer was ‘actual hell’ and ‘traumatic’

Ryan Reynolds says being on Korea’s The Masked Singer was ‘actual hell’ and ‘traumatic’

He sang 'Tomorrow' from the hit musical Annie.

Ryan Reynolds has opened up about his time on Korea's version of The Masked Singer and it turns out it wasn't all that great.

Reynolds is on a press tour to promote his new Christmas film with Will Ferrell called Spirited, which is a modern retelling of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.

The 46-year-old sat down with US morning show Today to chat about his fairly wild experience

Reynolds said: "I’ve been doing this job a long time, and you go on these international tours, and you start saying, 'What’s the weirdest show we can go on?'"

"This was before The Masked Singer was in the US, so they said, 'They have this show called The Masked Singer, which is huge in South Korea.'"

Reynolds added: "I said, ‘We’re doing this show. We have to do that show.'”

The American movie star was promoting Deadpool 2 at the time, so in a move that would be typical of his character, he donned a unicorn costume and sang a rendition of ‘Tomorrow’ from the musical Annie.

But unfortunately for Reynolds, the then-unknown and totally bonkers game show was not all it was cracked up to be.

He revealed to Today hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie that he realised he'd made a mistake shortly after filming kicked off.

"When I was there, I was like, 'Why did I sign up to do this? This is horrible! This is truly horrible'," he said.

"I don’t know this song, I don’t know how to do this. It was traumatic. What’s crazy is I was in actual hell."

He added: "At the time, no Westerner had been on that show before, so it was a big surprise when I lost the mask."

While it may have been a bit of a headache for him, the internet sure is loving the update on his 2018 shenanigans.

One Twitter user said: "That s**t was so funny. He looked confused the entire time."

A second added: "This is exactly what Deadpool would do though. It reflects the sense of humour that Deadpool has, to visit a foreign country and sing a happy song dressed as a unicorn. Smart guy."

A third chipped in with: "Ryan Reynolds is honestly just a gift to all of us. He is one of the best human beings."

Well, there you go. He hated it so we could love it."

You've got to hand it to him, it was a bizarre and outrageously Ryan Reynolds thing to do.
