A new documentary is coming to ITV which will tell the horrific true story behind the Stephen Graham drama The Walk-In.

The acclaimed drama is an explosive state-of-the-world series that tackles racism, freedom of speech and terrorism. Graham stars as activist Matthew Collins, a reformed neo-Nazi, now working as a journalist for the anti-racist organisation, Hope not Hate.

Now, viewers will be able to discover the true story behind the series. Nazi Hunters: The Real Walk-In lifts the lid on the real Matthew Collins and his work to stop the rise of the far right and its plot to murder MP Rosie Cooper.

The show will follow Collins as he explains how he transformed his life from being a neo-Nazi to dedicating his life to bringing white supremacists to justice.

Previously unreleased police footage of National Action – the British right-wing extremist terrorist organisation – will also feature.

The documentary will air as part of ITV’s BAFTA-winning Exposure programming which also includes people who had extraordinary roles in key events. This also includes Robbie Mullen, the man who infiltrated National Action as a mole.

The real Matthew Collins will reveal how he stopped National Action.

Viewers watching the fifth and final episode of The Walk-In should stay tuned on ITV as the documentary is scheduled to air directly after it.

In the final episode, Matthew (Graham) will come face-to-face with the far right in court.

The official teaser description reads: “Walk-in Robbie Mullen must face his former friends from National Action in court. The right-wing terrorists are accused of plotting to murder an MP but the case will stand or fall on Mullen’s attempt to paint himself as a reformed character.”

The series comes from BAFTA award winning director, Paul Andrew Williams who helmed all five episodes.

Stephen Graham stars as Matthew Collins.

Since the show debuted on 3 October, viewers have been on the edge of their seats each week, watching as Collins brings the hate group to justice.

He attempts to stop the radicalisation of young white men before it begins as National Action sets itself out with a youth-friendly, clean-cut image. They’re actually hell bent on creating a race war.

Collins’ looks to infiltrate such organisations by running moles, or walk-ins, with the goal of publishing information online about their activities to expose and fracture them.

Nazi Hunters: The Real Walk-In will air at 10:45pm on ITV immediately after The Walk-In concludes at 9pm on Monday 31 October.
