First trailer for Grinch horror film has dropped
The Grinch is making a gruesome comeback this Christmas in a festive horror film.

The trailer begins by introducing us to Cindy You-Know-Who who finds the spooky green, pot-bellied creature rummaging through the Christmas presents under her tree.

This parody of Dr. Seuss's classic children's story, 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas!' takes a terrifying turn when The Grinch - known as The Mean One - kills her mum while dressed as Santa Claus.
Two decades later, the ravenous monster begins to terrorise the sleepy mountain town of Whoville and threatens to ruin Christmas.
Now an adult, Cindy You-Know-Who finds a new purpose in stopping the beast for ruining another Christmas.
Armed with a candy cane rifle and what appears to be a baseball bat with Christmas lights wrapped around it and - because 'tis the season - Cindy You-Know-Who goes head-to-head with The Mean One in a brutal battle to save the Holidays.
The Mean One was directed by Steven LaMorte with a script written by Flip and Finn Kobler, the film stars Krystle Martin as the adult version of Cindy You-Know-Who. The cast also includes Chase Mullins, John Bigham, Erik Baker, Flip Kobler and Amy Schumacher.
Terrifier 2 star David Howard Thornton has been bestowed the honour of playing the green Christmas grump in this horror tale.
Christmas this year is shaping up to be one with festive films with a twist. Not only do we have The Grinch’s return, Violent Night starring David Harbour as a villain-slaying Santa Claus is out in cinemas on Friday while Bloody Christmas focuses on a murderous robot Saint Nicholas.
The Mean One is the latest adaptation of an iconic Children’s stories being adapted for the big screen with scary twist.
Earlier this year, the trailer for the Winnie-the-Pooh slasher film, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, with a rather frightening killer bear was released and quickly went viral.
The film will see the once loveable yellow bear and Piglet become bloodthirsty serial killers after their creator Christopher Robin abandons them for college.
A.A. Milne's book became part of the public domain in the United States on 1 January 2022 meaning that The Walt Disney Company no longer holds the exclusive film rights for the Winnie-the-Pooh characters.
This is not the case for ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ which is not in the public domain yet, which explains why the character is called The Mean One in the upcoming film.
While copyright laws can be difficult to wrap your head around, creators are allowed some exceptions when it comes to satire and The Mean One is listed in its official summary as an ‘audacious new parody’.
Atlas Film Distribution is releasing The Mean One in cinemas on 9 December.
