The Pogues singer Shane MacGowan is back in the hospital and his wife is urging fans to ‘send prayers’ their way.

As the band’s frontman was rushed to hospital, MacGowan’s wife, Victoria, shared a heartbreaking image of her husband.

She added a caption alongside the image that said: "Please send prayers and healing vibes to @ShaneMacGowan in hospital again and really hoping to get out asap!! Thank you."

Many were quick to respond, sending their love to the legendary Irish musician.

One person wrote: “All love for you Shane. Get well soon.”

Another said: “Offering prayers of healing for the great #Irish singer, @ShaneMacGowan. #Ireland.”

A third shared: “Prayers up for a real one.”

While another commented: “One of the great poets of our time! Get well soon!”

According to The Sun, there has been no explanation behind why the singer has been taken to hospital.

In November, MacGowan was seen using a wheelchair while attending his own art exhibition.

In 2016, it was also reported the singer broke his pelvis during a fall at home, leaving his knee broken.

He also damaged ligaments in another accident.

MacGowan, along with his band, rose to prominence with their unique style that mixed Irish traditional music with punk rock.

The band is most well known for their Christmas hit ‘Fairytale of New York’, which features Kirsty McColl.

However, The Pogues also had many other hit songs over their career.

Most recently, MacGowan left fans quite concerned after emerging on TikTok, with many believing the former rockstar looked frail.

The 64-year-old made his introduction to the social media app seated in a chair while seemingly shaking with slurred speech.

"Welcome to Shane MacGowan on TikTok,” he announced. "I hope you enjoy, God bless.”

But despite his condition, fans were overjoyed that the icon was finally making his TikTok debut.

One person said: “'Fairytale of New York' is still the best Christmas song xxx love to you and your family.”

Another commented: “It's NOT Christmas until I hear 'Fairytale of New York'. I missed it in December 2020.”

A third said: “Best songwriter there is. So much more than 'Fairytale of New York'. Thanks Shane.”

While another wrote: “Ah bless you Shane , lyrical genius, have some memories of you guys at the pub in Liverpool Road , 'Fairytale of New York' is the best Xmas song ever written.”
